Congratulations to the SAYS 8U All-Stars for winning the "Bloom in June" tournament hosted by the Woodlands Thunder. The team lost its first game on Sunday morning to the Kingwood Mustangs, putting them in the loser’s bracket. But, they were able to win their way back to the Championship game to, once again, face the same team that put them in the loser’s bracket.
With a NO IF GAME situation, the championship came down to this one game; a 'do or die' situation for both teams. The Mustangs held the lead over the SAYS All-Stars for most of the game but the SAYS All-Stars kept it within striking distance with great defense. In the 5th inning, the SAYS 8U All-Stars rallied to take a 2 run lead. In the 6th inning, the Mustangs were able to score enough runs to force an ITB. In extra innings, the SAYS All-Stars scored 3 runs and held the Mustangs to 1 to take the victory and the Tournament Championship. Way to go SAYS 8U All-Stars!!!
