Welcome 2012 Sauganash Storm (History and Current News)

The official girls fastpitch organization of the Edgebrook - Sauganash Athletic Association, . Edgebrook-Sauganash Athletic Association is a 501-c-3 not for profit corporation supporting youth baseball and softball for over 50 years. This is the largest baseball/ softball organization in the City of Chicago utilizing 8 CPD facilities on the far northwest side of Chicago and supporting 1400 players.

One of the fastest growing and most successful travel fastpitch programs in Chicago has been blessed to have great community support and dedicated coaches. The board is proud of the player accomplishments over the past 10 years. Our original Storm team that began as an 8u playing in the Lady Bear Claw Tournament in 1992 are now seniors in high school and we are proud to say that all 8 seniors that played fall ball in 2011 have been offered or accepted the opportunity to play college softball. The talent that will be following this group is now able to see the light at the end of the tunnel based on the 18u success and the level of play. There is so much talent at 16, 14, 12 and 10u. that the success stories will be coming for many more years.

This program has basically created many of the stars at the high school level over the past few years, we have sent so many players to the varsity level and they have consistently been the MVP's of their respective High schools. Storm players for the past few years have led Resurrection, Regina, Lane Tech, Loyola, Northside College Prep and St. Ignatius to successful seasons.

What's happening in 2012!!!

Corky Kane has organized an effort to create our own Storm softball facility just off of Touhy, and just east of Lehigh. 10, 12 and 14u have been using the facilty for winter practice.

The 16u and 18u have committed to twice weekly hitting sessions at Frozen Ropes with the assistance of Tammy Williams (Northwestern, Team USA and current Chicago Bandits) 18u's have never stopped hitting practice since the team was formed for Fall exposure. She has been a pleasure to work with and her softball coaching skills are second to none.

The 18u Storm which was already an 18U ASA A team has combined with the Trevian 18u ASA A team to create a very, very talented group of players for the 2012 season, we welcome and look forward to working with Coach Zuckerman, Coach Ieuter and the Trevian players. This team will be Traveling to Pennsbury, Pa to play in the Pennsbury NCFA exposure and particpate in the prestigious academic skills camp, yes academic, because particpants in the softball skills camp are invited based on their ACT (standardized test scores). This is where the Ivy League and prestigious East Coast liberal arts schools look for players. The 18u will also particpate in the Sparks Invitational Exposure, Chicago Metro ASA Championship, ASA/USA Natioanl Qualifier in Orland Park. This elite 18u ASA team is comprised of players from Resurrection, New Trier, Glenbrook North, Glenbrook South, Lane Tech, Niles North, Regina and Northside Prep.
