Cyclone Swimmers End Stellar Summer Season !
The Saint Augustine Cyclones Swim Team ended the 2011 Long Course Season with our annual Red & Black Intersquad Meet and team trip down to Itchetucknee Springs. Congratulations goes out to the RED JAMMERS who won the meet! The captains for the winning team were Leah Rhondinelli, Erin Burns, & Sydney Dotson. Congratulations goes out to The BLACK DEATHEATERS captain Noah & Rachel Hackney and Alex Shatto for leading their team in a valient effort. Thanks to all the swimmers for the bribes during the week and efforts during the meet.
The 2011 Long Course Season was a special one with 8 LSC championship meet qualifiers and 2 championship meet finalists. Cyclone swimmers broke an amazing 27 team records during the summer season.
Best wishes goes out to Cyclone college swimmers Noah Hackney & Chandler Gerlach. Noah will be walking on at the University of Florida and training with The Gator Swim Club in the fall. Chandler, after a stellar career at Indian River State College, earned a full athletic swimming schlorship to Auburn University.

Our Cyclone swimmers had a fantastic weekend at the Titusville Inviatational...we took third place in the team standings but we dominated the age group high point standings with 8 high point trophies ! Hackney ends 2011 Long Course season with outstanding performances at Florida Swimming Senior Championships
Cyclone Swimmer Noah Hackney ended a great long course season with some outstanding performances at Florida Swimming Senior Championships held July 21-24 at Wilder Aquatic Center on the campus of Indian River State College in Fort Pierce Florida.
Hackney competed in six events, qualified for B championship finals in three events and had a total four personal best times and three top 16 finishes at the meet. Hackney top performance was third place finish in B final of the Senior Mens 200 meter butterfly with a life time best of 2:17.64. He placed 12 overall. He also placed 13th in 200 meter backstroke (2:24.46), and 16th in 100 meter backstroke (1:04.37). He finished the meet with lifetime bests in the 100 meter butterfly (1:01.17), 50 meter freestyle (25.88), and 400 meter individual medley (5:12.84).

Cyclone Swimmers compete against nations best at FLAGS!
Our Cyclones FLAGS Team had some strong showings and lots of personal best times at The Florida Swimming Age Group Championships held July 14-17 at the Orlando International YMCA of Central Florida Aquatic Complex. Over 800 swimmers qualified and competed in this four day championship meet where 21 meet records were broken and 3 Olympic trial Cuts were witnessed made making it one of the fastest state age group championships in the nation.
The following swimmers placed in the top 16:
11/12 boys Brian Hodang 12th place 50 meter butterfly 32.09
14th place 50 meter freestyle 30.02
Brian also had personal best times in the 50 meter backstroke (34.66) and 200 individual medley (2:51.67).

Cole also had personal best times in the 50 meter freestyle (33.82), 100 meter backstroke (1:28.55), 100 meter freestyle (1:14.47) and 200 meter freestyle (2:44.05).

Cyclone swimmer Bella Garofalo makes Southen Zone Sectional cut in 50 meter freestyle at Bolles Tyr Summer Classic.
The Saint Augustine Cyclones Swim Team competed at the Bolles TYR Summer Classic June 23-June 26 on the Bolles School campus in Jacksonville, Florida. Over 800 swimmers from around the nation competed in the event. The Cyclones were led by Isabella Garofalo who qualified for consolation finals in the 50 meter freestyle and finished 11th place with a Southern Zone Sectionals qualifying time 29.19 .

Cyclone Swimmers excel at Florida Sunshine State Games & GPAC Tom Lalor Invitational
The Saint Augustine Cyclones Swim Team competed at Florida Sunshine State Games June 10-12 at Dwight Hunter Aquatic Center in Gainesville, Florida .
The Cyclones where led by Cole Crane. Crane competing in the 10 & under boys age group, took home Sunshine State titles in three events: 50 meter Freestyle (34.50), 50 meter backstroke (42.84), and 100 meter backstroke (1:29.02). He also took 2nd place in the 200 yard individual medley (3:19.60) and a pair of third place finishes in the 200 meter freestyle (2:46.81) & 100 meter freestyle (1:18.76).
Alec Dawson competing in the 11/12 boys age group took two 2nd place medals in 50 meter butterfly (34.27) & 100 yard butterfly (1:17.91). He also placed 3rd in 100 meter freestyle (1:09.61).
Nicolas Loomis took 3rd place in the 13/14 boys 100 meter butterfly (1:09.61) and a pair of 4th places in the 50 meter freestyle (29.57) & 200 meter backstroke (2:50.56).
Madolyn Aucremann took home a pair of 7th place finishes in the 11/12 girls 50 meter backstroke (39.09) & 50 meter butterfly (34.67). She also placed 8th in the 11/12 girls 50 meter Freestyle (32.49).

SAST Cyclone Swimmer Brian Hodang competed at the Greater Pensecola Aquatic Club Tom Lalor Invitational June 10-12 at The University of West Florida Aquatic center.
Brian competing in the 11/12 boys age group 2nd place in 50 meter backstroke (35.42), 3rd place in the 50 meter butterfly (33.73), and 4th place in 100 meter butterfly (1:22.86). Hodang swam a total of 7 personal best times out of 8 swims.

Cyclone Swimmers make strong showing at Episcopal Amber Jax Ultimate Swimmer Invitational
The Cyclones competed at the Episcopal Amber Jax Ultimate Swimmer Invitaional at the Semmes Aquatic Center in Jacksonville April 8-10 .
Swimmers competing the Ultimate Swimmer Challenge swam 10 events over a 3 day period with their aggragate times put together in order to determine who was the Ultimate swimmer.
In the 11/12 girls, Madolyn Aucremann took 3rd place overall.
In the 13/ 14 girls, Alex Shatto took 5th place overall
In the 10 & under boys, Cole Crane took 7th place.

Cyclone swimmers post lifetime best at Florida Senior Champs!
A pair of Cyclone swimmers competed at the Florida Swimming Senior Championships held Febuary 24-27 at the Orlando International YMCA Aquatic Center.
Isabella Garofalo, 13 posted life time best in the Senior women 50 yard freestyle with a time of 25.98 and the Senior women 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:06.45.
Noah Hackney, 17 posted personal bests in 100 yard butterfly 53.78, 400 yard individual medley (4:25.61), and 200 yard butterfly (2:00.59),

Cyclone Swimmers gear up for Florida Age Group Swimming Championships
The following Saint Augustine Cyclones Swim Team members have qualified to compete against the states best at the Florida Age Group Swimming Championship to be held Feburary 18-20 at Long Aquatic Center in Clearwater, Florida.:
Brian Hodang, a student at Twin Lakes Middle School in Jacksonville, will be competing in six events in the 11/12 boys age group. He will be swimming the 50 yard freestyle, 50 yard breaststroke, 50 yard butterfly, 50 yard backstroke, 100 yard individual medley and 200 yard individual medley.
Cole Crane, a student at Ketterlinus Elementary School, will be competing in 10 & under boys age group. He will be competing in the 50 yard backstroke, 50 yard freestyle, 100 yard backstroke and 100 yard Freestyle.
Alec Dawson, a student at Jenkins Middle School in Palatka, will compete in 11 & 12 Boys age group in the 50 yard and 100 yard butterfly events.
Madelyn Aucremann, a student at Gamble Rogers Middle School, will be competing in the 11/12 girls 50 yard and 100 yard butterfly.
Nicholas Loomis, a student at Sebastian Middle School, will be competing in the 13/14 boys 200 yard backstroke.

Hackney places 16th at Florida Swimming Senior Champs

Cyclone swimmer Noah Hackney finished 16th in Senior men 100 meter backstroke at 2010 Florida Swimming Long Course Senior Championships held July 22-25 at the Sarasota YMCA aquatic Center. Hackney swam a personal best time of 1:03.84 in the prelimnary round qualifying the consolation finals. In the consolation final, he place 8th with a time of 1:04.47. Noah also had personal best times in the 400 meter freestyle (4:29.63), 1500 meter freestyle (18:13.78), 400 individual medley (5:16.14) and 100 meter butterfly (1:02.96).

Cyclone Swimmers swim to lifetime bests at Florida Swimming Junior Olympics
St. Augustine Cyclones Swim Team member Isabella Garofalo took 9th place in the 11/12 girls 50 meter freestyle at the Florida Swimming Long Course Junior Olympics held July 15-18 at the International YMCA Aquatic Center In Orlando.
In the morning prelims, Garofalo went 30.23 in the 50 freestyle placing 13th and qualifyng for the evening consolation finals. In the consolation finals, She won the heat and swam a lifetime best of 29.86. She also competed the 50 meter butterfly(:34.76 ), 50 meter backstroke (36.61), 200 meter freestyle (2:30.31) and 100 meter Freestyle (1:07.36), all personal best times
Other Cyclone swimmers competing and posting personal best times were Brian Hodang who posted 36.21 in the 11/12 boys 50 meter butterfly and Nicholas Loomis who went 2:37.22 in 13/14 boys 200 meter backstroke.

The St. Augustine Cyclones Swim Team competed at Episcopal Amberjax Ultimate Swimmer Decathlon Meet held April 9-11 at Episcopal High School. Hackney shines at swim meet
St. Augustine Cyclones swimmer Noah Hackney competed at the Florida Swimming Senior Championships in Orlando on Feb. 25-28. Hackney, a junior at St. Augustine High School, took third place with a personal-best time of 54.04 seconds in the 15-16 boys 100-yard backstroke final. He also placed sixth in the 200 backstroke in 1:58.88. He was 15th in the 1,650 freestyle (17.44.08), 18th in the 500 freestyle (5:03.23), 20th in the 100 butterfly (55.75) and 23rd in 200 freestyle (1:49.07).

SAST CYCLONES make Splash at 2010 Florida Junior Olympics
The St. Augustine Cyclone Swim Team competed against the top age group swimmers in the State of Florida at the Florida Swimming Short Course Junior Olympic Swimming Championships held February 18-21 at The Long Aquatic Center in Clearwater.
The Cyclones were led by Brian Hodang, who took 5th place in the boy’s 50 yard butterfly with a personal best time of 32.39. He also placed 10th 100 yard individual medley with a time of 1:15.78, 12th in 50 yard breaststroke (41,34) and 14th in 200 yard Individual medley (2:50.16). His teammate Alec Dawson placed 14th in 10 & under boys 100 yard butterfly with a personal best time 1:18.42. Nicholas Loomis placed 11th in both 11 & 12 50 yard backstroke (31.38) and 50 yard butterfly (29.88). Madolyn Aucremann placed 21st in the 50 yard butterfly (34.74) and 24th in the 100 yard butterfly (1:19.93). Out of a total of 23 splashes, Cyclone Swimmers had a total of 15 personal best times. Way to go swimmers!

Congratulations to our 2010 Junior Olympic Team Members
The following members of the St. Augustine Cyclones Swim Team will be competing against the top age
group swimmers in the state at the Florida Swimming Short Course Junior Olympics to be held February
18-21 in Clearwater, Florida. In order to qualify for Junior Olympics, each swimmer had to meet Junior
Olympic time standards set by Florida Swimming and USA Swimming. The meet will be attended by over
700 swimmers who have qualified throughout the state.
Madolyn Aucremann will be competing in the 10 & under Girls age group. Aucremann qualified in six
events: 50 yard butterfly, 100 yard butterfly, 100 yard individual medley, 200 yard freestyle, 50 yard backstroke
and 100 yard backstroke.
Alec Dawson and Brian Hodang will be competing in the 10 & under boy’s age group. Dawson qualified
in five events: 200 yard freestyle, 100 yard freestyle, 50 yard butterfly, 100 yard butterfly and 200 yard
individual medley. Hodang qualified in six events: 50 yard butterfly, 100 yard butterfly, 50 yard
backstroke, 200 yard individual medley, 100 yard individual medley, and 50 yard breaststroke.
Nicholas Loomis will be competing in 11 & 12 boy’s age group. Nicholas qualified in 6 events: 50 yard
butterfly, 100 yard butterfly, 50 yard backstroke, 100 yard backstroke, 50 yard freestyle and 100 yard
freestyle.

Cyclone Swimmer Noah Hackney selected to All County Swim Team
Noah Hackney, a junior at St. Augustine High School, was selected to the 2009 All County Boys Swimming and Diving Team by the St. Augustine Record. Hackney was selected in two events: 100 yard backstroke and 500 yard freestyle. Citeria for the All- County selections were compiled by sports writer Stuart Korfhage and were based on performances in state-series meets.

SAST Cyclone Swimmer Noah Hackney selected to All First Coast Swim Team
Congratulations to Cyclone and SAHS Jacket swimmer Noah Hackney for being selected to the All First Coast Boys Swim Team by the Florida Times Union...selections were based on performances throughout 2009 FHSAA swim seasons and at the district, regional and state competition. Noah was selected to the 2nd Team.

Hackney earns fifth-place finish at Gator Swim Club Winter Classic
Several members of the St. Augustine Cyclones swim team competed at the Gator Swim Club Winter Classic at the University of Florida.
Noah Hackney finished fifth in the 15-16 boys 100-yard backstroke (54.87), eighth in the 1650 freestyle (17:43.63) and ninth in the 200 backstroke (2:00.74). Other swimmers who posted personal bests were: Emilia Sopranzi, Brian Hodang, Alec Dawson, Trey Dotson, Joslyn Bulis, Sophia Garofalo, Madelyn Aucreman, Jake Tustin and Nicholas Loomis.
Former Cyclone and Menendez swimmer Chandler Gerlach, competing for Indian River State College, was fourth in the senior men's 200-yard breaststroke (2:07.90) and seventh in the 100 breaststroke (57.99).

Congratulations to our Cyclone High school swimmers!
This was a great year for our high school Cyclone swimmers. Our Pedro Menendez swimers, ( Trey Dotson (100fly, 200 free), Sydney Dotson (100 breast,500 free), Emilia Sopranzi (100 Breast,100 Free) and Leah Rondinelli (100 back) placed in the top eight at Districts and qualified for individual events to the regional competition. St. Augustine Swimmer Noah Hackney was District Champion in the 100 yard backstroke and runner up in the 500 yard freestyle.His efforts qualified him for the regional meet. Noah went on to final at the regional meet and qualify for FHSAA Class 2A where he went on to finish 9th in the state in the 100 yard backstroke with a lifetime best time 54.71.

Cyclone Swimmers take home high point trophies at 2009 Tom Kingston Invitational
Cyclone swimmers Nicolas Loomis and Brian Hodang took home high point trophies at The Daytona Beach Swimming Tom Kingston Invitational held September 11-13 at the Port Orange YMCA Aquatic Center. Brian took home the 3rd place overall trophy in the 10 & under boys while Nicolas was the runner up in 11/12 boys age group. Other Cyclone Swimmers who qualified for finals and finished in top 8 were Cole Crane ( 8 & under Boys), Joslyn Bulis ( 10 & Under girls), Alec Dawson (11 & 12 boys) , and Samantha Roth ( 11 & 12 girls).
