San Jac falls in close one, finishes 3rd at JUCO World Series (6-1-06)
Walters State (Tenn.) stayed unbeaten with a 3-1 victory over San Jacinto College on Thursday night that eliminated the Gators from the Junior College World Series.
Jack Tilghman struck out six and walked three and held San Jacinto hitless until J.P. Padron's two-out single in the fifth inning.
"He had a good fastball and breaking ball and was always down in the zone," Gators coach Tom Arrington said. "He locates well. He didn't leave anything over the middle of the plate."
Padron singled in San Jac's only run in the eighth, an inning in which the Gators had two walks and two hits. After Padron's hit, Jared Dyer singled and a walk loaded the bases before Tilghman struck out James Brown looking to leave the bases loaded.
San Jacinto's Jordan Rogers also pitched a complete game, allowing seven hits and two earned runs in eight innings.
