PLAYER DEVELOPMENT

The San Jacinto College baseball program provides student-athletes the opportunity to develop their skills as a baseball player in a highly competitive college baseball program while obtaining a quality education in their chosen field. Many of our players have an opportunity to further their baseball careers at four-year colleges or in professional baseball.

In 2005, San Jac had nine former players at NCAA Division I schools that have been ranked in Baseball America's top 25 poll. The players include: University of Texas (Will Crouch, Clayton Stewart), Louisiana State University (Nick Stavinoha), University of Mississippi (Miles Franklin), Baylor University (Mike Pankratz, Kevin Russo), Texas A&M University (Andrew Baldwin, Kyle Marlatt) and Texas Christian University (Shawn Ferguson).

In addition to our former players in the collegiate ranks, the Gators currently have four players in Major League Baseball (pitchers Roger Clemens, Houston Astros; Andy Pettitte, Houston Astros; Mike Gonzalez, Pittsburgh Pirates; and Jesse Crain, Minnesota Twins) and fourteen other former Gators currently playing in minor league systems.
