All-Stars

We are so proud of our All-Stars who represent all of us. Our T-ball team of 6 year olds and Rookie 7  Year Olds played at Varina in very hot weather and drew double-headers and such and still they played well. Our 8 Year old Rookies played at West Point and fought their way to 3rd place! The 9-10 Year Old Minors played at Williamsburg against some very good teams. Our 14 & Under girls softball team played in the State Tournament at Varina and fought to a 4th place finish against teams from all over Virginia! The Sandston name was worn proudly and we thank the players, coaches and parents for all their hard work!

Parade

Thanks to all who participated and worked to make the 1st Annual Memorial Day Parade such a success. It was a fun day please let us know with your emails how you felt and any other things you want discuss. You are guaranteed a response.

The objective of the Sandston Youth Association is to implant firmly in the children of our community the ideals of good sportsmanship, honesty, loyalty, compassion, and respect for authority and along the way, have some fun. This will help to ensure that they become well adjusted, stronger and happier children that transform into trustworthy citizens.

* New Info: As of this writing, our boundaries from last year have not changed. If you live in the 23150 or 23075 zip codes, you are in our boundaries. We also have some of 23231 and 23223 zip codes. Give us a call or email if you aren't sure. Don't believe rumors spread by a few people who would like to see the Sandston area lose its local league.See signup dates below. If your child will be 13 or older on April 30, 2009, go to links section for Sandston Babe Ruth.

Division Ages Changed

On July 10, the Board voted to realign our age groups to be more in line with other leagues and make our league better. Beginning in 2009, Instructional T-Ball will be 4 year olds only, Ages 5 and 6 will play advanced Tball and 7 year olds will move up to play Rookie with the 8 year olds. The League age is determined by how old your child is on April 30, 2009. This means that last year's (2008) 6 & 7 year olds will all move to Rookie.

Coaches

Babe Ruth is requiring that all coaches be certified for 2009. The course is online and costs $19.95. It takes 2 or 3 hours but you can work on it and come back as many times as you want. It is a good course and will help you teach the game better & make it more fun. Our children are worth the investment. They look up to you as their leader so act like one. The certification is for life, so you only have to take it once. For those who say " I won't pay to coach", the Association pays more than $20 for your shirt & hat. Click on the word "coaches" to go to the site.
