Rule change for 2009!!!
Beginning with the 2009 season a metal bat regulation has been established by the Babe Ruth League Board of Directors for the 16-18 year old group. Metal bats may not be more than 2 5/8 inches in diameter and must have a weight differential no greater than minus 3.  Example: a 32 inch bat must weigh at least 29 ounces. Wood bats are not affected by this new regulation.

Alabama Sports Law
The 2002 Alabama Sports Law is designed to protect "sports officials" from the
crimes of menacing, harassments, and assault. Everyone who attends or participates
in any organized sporting event should familiarize themselves with this law, and the
punishment if convicted. Among those protected under the law include persons who enforce
the rules, such as umpires or referees, and those who supervise the events, such as coaches
or league officials. The entire law and the code of criminal punishment for conviction
is available in the Handouts Section.

Update!! - It is now a class "C" felony for a conviction on the above law.
