Collegiate Enhancement My name is Michael Loy and I am with Collegiate Access. We scout college bound softball athletes. We are searching for prospects from 14U thru 18U. We build a history database on each prospect. We also build a video library on prospects for college coaches. I am looking for stats/player handouts and your 2008 schedule. You can e-mail me at contact@collegiateaccess.net. You can view our web site at www.collegiateaccess.net.

In Response To The Previous Post: To Whom It May Concern (which I'm sure it doesn't): The only thing posted on this entire website that "sucks" is your use of grammer and punctuation. You claim that 80% or more of the players are decided before the try-outs? I am pleased to see that you took the time to run an extensive survey, calculate that number, and then post it on the internet. The only time of parents and players that is being wasted is the time it took to read that rediculous post of yours. I also enjoyed the solutions that you have offered to solve this problem: 1. A non-biased group that is not connected with Xavier should host try-outs. 2. You should apply as the head coach of a team or as the president of the Saints Sports Organization so that your child would automatically be on the team. I really tried to keep a straight face while considering your ideas, but it proved to be nearly as hard for me to do as it is for you to look up the word "affliated" in the dictionary. But somehow in between my snickers, gaffaws, and jocularity, I managed to come up with a few response to what you wrote. 1. Why would a non biased group that has no connection to Xavier look out for the best interest of this program? Hey I've got a great idea! Lets have our friends down on the other end of 42nd Street pick the team! I'm sure they wouldn't mind helping out! Maybe if you can't get ahold of them you could always call someone from Bettendorf. There wouldn't be any biased against your child then. 2. This is surprisingly a half decent idea. Volunteer your time to help others. Just ask Jeff Thorsteinson if you get a chance and I'm sure he'll be able to tell you how easy it is to take time out of his busy day to pamper your child's self esteem (for free). You ask what values this program teaches your child? I just graduated from Xavier High School last year and I was a member of the 2006 4A State Championship Football team. I owe the ring on my finger to the sucess of this program and to people like Jeff Thorsteinson (and all the other volunteers) who took the time to teach me the life lessons football can offer. The values I was taught were not to complain and redicule others. Xavier Football made my teammates and I physically, mentally, and spiritually stronger. When I was playing football I prayed more often, I was in the best shape I will ever be in, I got excelent grades, I got to make friends that I will keep in touch with until the day I die, and I got a chance to find myself. The funny thing about all that is....I didn't start a single game my junior or senior year. Infact, I played only 6 seconds of my first high school football game. Do the math and that is basically 1 second for every 1 day of practice that I put in that week. If I had it all to do over, I wouldn't change a thing either. It doesn't matter if you're First Team All American or if you're the water boy. Being a part of a football program is about having a responsibility to your team and doing your job. It is NOT about being a "me" guy and wondering, "What do I get out of this?" Instead, you should ask "What can I do so that my teammates get the most out of it?" That is what wins state championships. You ask if you must donate more money? You don't have to, but you should. Think of all the rediculous things you spend money on everyday. Donating it to keep your kids active and off the streets sounds like a bad thing to you? As far as your "different neighborhood" comment goes I won't even begin to touch on that. You need to grow up. Enough said. You ask "what it takes"? If you have to ask, you'll never know.

I think the whole process of your try-out system sucks!!!! 80% or more of the players are already decided before the try-outs, so why do you waste the time of the players & parents. A non bias group not affliated with Xavier should be the ones conducting the try-outs. Maybe I should apply for the president of the group or the head coach so my kid automatically is the on the team. What values are you teaching the kids. Or maybe we should donate more $ to the program or live in a different neighborhood. So tell me what it takes???????
