1942 District Champions
St. Charles in 1942 won the Central District Class B baseball championship, the schools first title on the diamond. Members of the team that went 13-3 are, from left, 1st row-Larry O'Connor, Billy Galen, Joe Becker, Capt. Jimmy Fraher, Jim Achatz, John Duffy, Joe Berendt, and Ned Gallagher. 2nd-Coach Jack Ryan, Bobby Kresack, Louie Becker, Jackie Nester, Bob Gallo, Dick Ey, and Bobby Hochevar.

Jim O'Neill 1948
Jim O'Neill '48 compiled a 40-5 won-loss record that included 5 no-hitters for the Cardinals. An all-american in hi senior year at Holy Cross College led the Crusaders to the 1952 NCAA College World Series championship. O'Neill won three games including the title contest, in the championship series. His record in his senior college year was 14-1. O'Neill was signed to a professional baseball contract but an arm injury in military service detoured a pro career. The St. Charles baseball MVP award is named after Jim O'Neill.
