Saddleback Valley Pop Warner Football & Cheer: Welcome

Registration for the 2009 Season is Almost Over!

Saddleback Valley Pop Warner Football and Cheer covers residents of the following cities:  Lake Forest, Foothill Ranch, Mission Viejo, Laguna Hills, Laguna Niguel and Aliso Viejo.  Teams are comprised of children from all cities--we do not form teams based on geographic areas.

We are currently full and accepting children on a wait list for the following football levels:

• Flag 
• Jr Midget

We have a few spots left at the following levels:

• Jr Mitey Mite (7 & 8 year olds between 45-90 lbs)
• Mitey Mite (7 & 8 year olds between 45-90 lbs & 9 year olds between 45-70 lbs)
• Jr Pee Wee (8, 9, 10 year olds between 60-105 lbs & 11 year olds between 60-85 lbs)
• Pee Wee (9, 10, 11 year olds between 75-120 lbs & 12 year olds between 75-100 lbs)
• Midget (11, 12, 13, 14 year olds between 105-160 lbs & 15 year olds between 105-140 lbs)

Both age and weight are taken into consideration for placement.

Football Registration Fees:  $200 Flag Football (ages 5 & 6)   $300 Tackle Football (ages 7 to 15)

Cheer Registration Fee:  $300 (ages 5 to 15)

Registration fee includes:  uniform rental, picture package, and trophy.  Additional items such as spirit pack (practice uniform--players get sized for those items at registration), etc are not included in the registration fee.

Ages shown below are as of July 31, 2009 and weights are as of the certification date (to be held in August).  There are no weight restrictions for our flag football players.  All players must meet the criteria below in order to participate in our program.

AGE AND WEIGHT CHART FOR 2009 (ages are as of 7/31/09):

Cheerleaders must meet the age criteria above.  There are no weight restrictions for cheerleaders.

FOOTBALL REGISTRATION:  If you are interested in registering for our football program (or to place your child on a waiting list for our Flag or Jr Midget levels), please send an email to our Athletic Director, Leanne Sanchez at leanne2@cox.net.  Please provide the following information in your email:

• your child's name
• your child's date of birth (include year)
• your child's current weight
• any flag or tackle football experience
• your city of residence
• parents names and contact phone numbers and email

She will check for availability (we are full at some levels--refer to the top of the article) and determine the next steps.

CHEERLEADING REGISTRATION:  We are also almost completely full for our cheerleading program as well.  We are accepting girls on a wait list for the following levels:

• Midget
• Jr Midget
• Pee Wee

We still have spots available at our Mitey Mite (5 - 9 year olds) level.  If you are interested in our cheer program, please email our Cheer Director, Karen Havens at sv2009cheer@yahoo.com.

If you are new to our league, we invite you to attend our New Parent Meeting.  You will meet our Board Members and Coaches and receive alot of pertinent information that will help you as you begin the upcoming football season.

Time:  6:30PM

We respectfully ask that you leave your children at home.  The presentation is designed to educate parents/guardians about our program.  It will also allow us to be able to comfortably seat everyone, as our space is limited.

Division/Ages/Weights:

All ages are as of July 31st, 2009:

Flag:  ages 5 & 6 with no weight restrictions

Jr Mitey Mite:  ages 7 & 8 between 45-90 pounds

Mitey Mite:  ages 7 & 8 between 45-90 pounds AND 9 year olds between 45-70 pounds

Jr Pee Wee:  ages 8, 9, 10 between 60-105 pounds AND 11 year olds between 60-85 pounds

Pee Wee:  ages 9, 10, 11 between 75-120 pounds AND 12 year olds between 75-100 pounds

Jr Midget:  ages 10, 11, 12 between 85-135 pounds AND 13 year olds between 85-115 pounds 

Midget:  ages 11, 12, 13, 14 between 105-160 AND 15 year olds between 105-140 pounds

At SVPW, our goal is to develop well rounded boys and girls who will not only learn the fundamentals of football and cheerleading, but also the importance of education, team work and sportsmanship.  We pride ourselves on providing the youth of our community with a foundation of sportmanship and fellowship that they can carry with them throughout their lives.

Our association serves the following cities:  Lake Forest, Mission Viejo, Portola Hills, Foothill Ranch, Laguna Hills, Laguna Niguel, and Aliso Viejo.  We are proud to have partnered with two local High Schools to provide our teams with the opportunity to play on the turf and in some instances, under the lights!

Our organization is run entirely by volunteers, most of whom have children in our football and cheer programs.  Our teams are known as the BEARS, CHARGERS and WOLVERINES.
