FC DANUBIA is a 1990 PREMIER GIRLS soccer team located in Northeast Philadelphia.

We were formed in Aug. 1998 at the Wissinoming Rec., competing year round in the Dept. of Rec and IGSL Soccer Leagues. After winning the highest levels of City competition in fall 2002, the team spread its wings in search of stronger competition and we found ourselves in the Inter County Soccer League. In 2004, with Head Coach Joe Brennan in his second year, help from Assistant John Wolstenholme and Trainer Eddie Martinez, the team put a 1st Division ICSL Championship under the belt. In the fall of 2005, we moved to the Premier Division of PAGS to complete with many of the top teams in Eastern Pennsylvania.

In the fall of 2006 we relocated to Academy Sabres. With the support of that organanization we continued to compete at the premier level in EPYSA.

For the fall of 2007 we have found a home at Danubia Soccer Club. This team presently boasts housing some of the areas strongest and most dedicated female soccer players, with the objective of achieving the highest levels of competition, attracting athletes from all over the area with the same goals.

"...........AND IN THE END, IT'S NOT THE YEARS IN YOUR LIFE THAT COUNT; IT'S THE LIFE IN YOUR YEARS".................Lacey Gallagher

*

Lacey Gallagher passed away in a tragic accident on April 28th, 2007. She was an LF soccer player, schoolmate, teammate and friend to several of our FC Danubia players.

Growing up, Lacey's Fishtown team, coached by her father Frank, was a rival of Joe Brennan's Lighthouse team. In high school, she played for Joe Carson's FC Philly Sharks in club ball and Markos Pittoulis' Little Flower H.S. Sentinals. She had plans to play soccer at Chestnut Hill College.

The wisdom with which Lacey lived her life, and left behind for us in her journals, helps her family, friends and classmates find perspective......

.........."APPRECIATE LIFE AND LIVE IT TO THE FULLEST UNTIL YOUR DYING BREATH."

To honor Lacey's memory, her family and friends began the Lacey Gallagher Memorial Scholarship Fund, whose Mission is to provide deserving students, the opportunity to thrive through a Catholic School education, by embracing the ideals of community spirit, good sportsmanship and academics with the utmost integrity, which shined through Lacey as she grew and prospered during her years of study at Little Flower Catholic Girls High School.

In 2008, through the overwhelming support of the Fund, the foundation was able to provide 30 scholarships to Catholic School students.  Click on the above graphic to link to find out more information on the Lacey Gallagher Memorial Scholarship Fund or http://www.thelaceyfund.org/ .
