Highlands

Loss

7-6

Vickers

HITTING Nishimura: 2B
LEADERS:
RECAP: Raiders versus Bluebirds in a rematch of last year's JV championship.  Raiders fell behind early
but kept fighting back.  Down 7-6 in the final frame, Ryle had men on first and third with two out
and tried to sneak across the tying run on a walk-off steak, but Highlands defended it perfectly.
Ryle bats were ice cold to start the season, getting only two hits, both by Nishimura..

3/24

NCC

Win

2-0

Demler

HITTING Jackson: game-winning RBI single
LEADERS:
RECAP: Raiders get into the win column behind the combined no-hit pitching performances of Demler
(4 inn) and Jackson (3 inn).  The Raiders only mustered three hits themselves, with Jackson's
first inning 2-out, RBI single being the most important.  The pitchers were backed by some
solid defensive support, including several nice plays by RF Vickers.

3/30

Anderson

Loss

11-0

Spiritoso

HITTING Adkins: 2B
LEADERS:
RECAP: Spiritose pitched well, but a close game fell apart in the 4th inning, as Ryle errors allowed
5 unearned runs in the 4th inning.  The Raider bats were deathly silent save for a 6th
inning double by Atkins.  Anderson tacks on multiple runs in the 6th and 7th innings, aided
  again by sloppy defensive play.

3/31

Conner

Win

9-5

Demler

HITTING Nishimura: 2-5, 2 RBI; Huff: 2-4, 2 R; Atkins: 2 RBI; Turner: 3 SB
LEADERS:
RECAP: Raiders respond from lop-sided Anderson loss with a solid win over district opponent Conner.
Ryle scores 4 in the first, but Conner gets 3 of their own as a result of poor fielding.  Demler
buckles down and holds Cougars scoreless through the 4th.  Raiders cross the plate four more times
in the 5th to take a 9-3 lead.  Jackson comes on in relief to finish the game and allows only
one hit and one unearned run.

4/1

Boone County

Win

9-4

Vickers

HITTING Gayhart: 3-4, 2 2B, 4 RBI; Turner: 3-4, 3 R, 2 RBI; Jackson: 3-4,  2B, 2 R, 2 RBI;
LEADERS: Demler: 2B; Nishimura: 2-4, 2R
RECAP: Vickers goes 5 strong innings in leading Raiders to win.  The game started ominously as
4 first inning Ryle errors allowed for 2 unearned runs.  From there on the defense played
solidly and the bats finally came alive, cranking out 13 hits - as many as the Raiders had in
  first four games combined.

4/3

Elder

Loss

12-4

Nisimura

HITTING Green - 2 hits
LEADERS:
RECAP: Raiders give up 7 runs in the first inning and could never get back in the game.

4/6

Campbell Cty

Win

8-3

Demler

HITTING Green - 3 hits, 2B; Seimer - 2 RBI; Smith - 2 RBI; Gayhart - 2 hits; Huff - 2 hits
LEADERS:
RECAP: Demler weathers a 45 minute rain delay in second inning and goes 4 innings (1 ER) to get the win,
with Jackson (2 inn) and Atkins (1 inn) in relief.  Ryle breaks open a tight 3-1 game with a 5-run
6th inning, highlighted by 2-run RBI singles by Seimer and Smith.  Hitting star of the game was
Green, who knocked 3 base hits after getting two hits in the previous game.

4/11

South Oldham

Loss

15-10

Demler

HITTING Nishimura: 3 runs; Seimer: 2-4, 2B, 2R, 2 RBI; Huff: 2-2; Jackson: 2B; Gayhart:2 RBI; Como: 2B
LEADERS:
RECAP: Up 9-1 after 3 innings and 10-2 after 4 innings the Raiders implode in the 5th and 6th innings
allowing six runs in each inning via a host of walks, errors, and South Oldham hitting.  Vickers
throws 4 strong innings, but the relievers and defense weren't able to hold the lead. After hitting
solidly in the first four frames, the bats went silent in the final 3 innings.

   4/11

Boone County

Win

13-1

Jackson

HITTING Turner: 3-4, 6 RBI; Seimer: 3-4, 2 RBI; Huff: 2-4; Green: 2 R; Smith: 2 R;
LEADERS: Demler: 3-3, 2B, 4 RBI
RECAP: A nice comeback win for Ryle in the second game of a Saturday twinbill.  Jackson dominated Boone
hitters with a nice mixture of fastballs and off-speed pitches.  Turner, Seimer, and Demler lead
the Raiders' hitting attack, with each player knocking  3 hits.  The Raider bats were red-hot in
this game, tallying 13 hits in all.

4/13

Conner

Win

11-5

Gayhart

HITTING Nishimura: 2-3, 3 R; Turner: 2B; Huff: 3 RBI; Gayhart: 2B, 2 R; Smith: 2-3, 2 RBI
LEADERS:
RECAP: Gayhart pitches a strong 4 1/3 innings, allowing 5 runs but only 2 earned. Spiritoso does an
outstanding job in his 2 2/3 innings of relief, shutting down any hopes of a Cougar comeback.
Raiders jump on the board early with 4 runs in the first and 3 more in the 2nd inning.

Cov Cath

Win

7-6

Demler

HITTING Turner: 3-4, 2B, 2 RBI; Huff: 2-4; Jackson: 2-4, 2B, 2 RBI; Green: 2-3
LEADERS:
RECAP: Yet another outstanding pitching performance from Demler, who goes 6 1/3 innings against a
strong Colonels team and only allows 3 runs (2 earned) while striking out 5 hitters.  Raiders
break open a 1-1 game with 4 runs on 5 hits in the 5th inning and then tack on 2 more in the 6th
to go up 7-2.  Cov Cath makes a game of it by scoring 4 runs in the 7th, but Ryle prevails.

4/17

Holy Cross

Win

14-2

Meredith

HITTING Jewell: 2-4; Demler: 3B
LEADERS:
RECAP: Wohlwender gets his first start of the season and pitched well into the 3rd inning, when he
ran into a little control issue.  But Meredit comes in to relieve and was absolutely lights
out in his 4 2/3 innings, buckling multiple Indian hitters with his curveball and recording 6 K's.
Ryle offense wasn't overwhelming, but does enough to get the job done, led by Nathan Jewell.

4/18

Cov Cath

Loss

6-5 (8 inn)

Gayhart

HITTING Jackson: 2-4, 2 R; Smith: 2 BB; Demler: 2 RBI
LEADERS:
RECAP: Raiders come back from a 4-2 deficit after 5 innings to take a 5-4 lead in the 6th, but CCH
ties it in their at-bat.  Tied 5-5 after regulation, the Colonels win the game in the bottom
  of the 8th on a walk-off sacrifice fly.  Jackson (5 1/3 inn, 4 ER) and Gayhart (2 1/3, 1 ER)
pitch well.  Raiders only tally 7 hits in the game.

4/18

Dixie Heights

Win

6-2

Vickers

HITTING Seimer: 2-2, 2B, 2 RBI; Gayhart: 2B; Turner: 2 R
LEADERS:
RECAP: Vickers is the story of this game, throwing a 67-pitch complete game.  He allowed only
3 hits and 2 runs, neither of which were earned.  He kept Dixie off balance all game, mixing
in effective off-speed pitches with his lively fastball.  Ryle scored four runs in the first
inning to take control of the game.
