Ryle Raiders Baseball: Tryout Information

RYLE BASEBALL TRYOUT INFORMATION  

All players who try out and make the team with be making a commitment to Ryle Baseball and their teammates for the entire season. The season begins February 15th and runs through the end of tournament play. This includes Spring Break and when school is out of session. Each prospective player should discuss this commitment with his parents prior to trying out. If the parents and prospective player feel a total commitment cannot be made that person should not come out for the team.

All players must have a physical on file with Mr. Demler in the Athletic Director’s Office prior to tryouts.  No one will be permitted to try out with a physical on file  and there will be no exceptions.  You will simply be sent home.  No exceptions!

 

KHSAA Physical forms can be picked up in the  A.D. Office, downloaded off the Ryle Baseball website, or by going to the KHSAA website at http://www.khsaa.org/ (click on 'Reports and Information' link at top of page, then look under 'General Reports and Instructions' and click on 'KHSAA Forms', then 'General Forms', then 'GE-4 Consent, Permission, Physical Exam Form' (.pdf).  ALL PHYSICALS NEED TO BE ON THIS FORM, completely filled out.

All players must maintain a cumulative grade average of 78% during the playing season. No one will be permitted to try out with an overall grade average below 78% for the 2015-2016 school year.

All tryout dates are mandatory. All prospective players are required to attend all tryout sessions.

Ryle Baseball is a competitive sport and there is no guaranteed playing time. Playing time is solely determined by the Ryle coaching staff.

All 8th graders, freshman, and sophomores will try out for the JV and Freshman teams.

Juniors and Seniors will try out for the Varsity team.

Important Dates

December 2015 – Weightlifting in Big Gym upstairs. 
Monday and Wednesday  - Juniors and Seniors
Tuesday and Thursday - Freshman and Sophomores

 February 15, 2016 – Open tryouts begin.  All players should try out.  Times TBA at lifting and on website.

   

February 17, 2016 - First cut for all teams. Cuts will continue following each practice until final teams are formed.  

  

February 24, 2016 - mandatory player/parent participation working concession stand at Xavier Men's Basketball game.  Must be at Cintas no later than 4:30 p.m.   Students must be 16 years of age and have proper ID.

 

March 5, 2016 - mandatory player/parent participation working concession stand at Xavier Men's Basketball game.  Must be at Cintas no later than 12:00 p.m.   Students must be 16 years of age and have proper ID

 

March 12, 2016 – Ryle Field Cleanup Day.  Time to be announced.  Parents strongly encouraged to participate.  If inclement weather, backup date will be March 19.

 

April 11-17, 2016 Boone County School Spring BreakGames will be played throughout the week and are mandatory.  Any player who will not be available during Spring Break should not try out for the team.

April 9, 2016 ACT Test DatePlayers should attempt to schedule ACT test for another  date if possible.  If you must schedule your ACT test on this date, let Coach Roesel know as soon as possible.

   

May 23-25, 2016 – Varsity District Tournament played at Cooper High School.

 

May 30, 2016 – Varsity Regional Tournament begins at Florence Freedom.

 

June 6, 2016 – State Championships, Whitaker Bank Ballpark (formerly Applebee's Park), Lexington, KY.
