ONE SEASON WINDING DOWN, ANOTHER BEGINNING
After an exciting round one, the playoffs resume after a break for the Labor Day Weekend on September 8th. Just eight teams are left vying for our two League Titles. Four of those will advance to the Championship Series which begin at Lakewood's FirstEnergy Park on September 16th. Those series continue in Newark at the Bears' Riverfront Stadium on Saturday September 22. A third game, if necessary will be played on September 23rd.

Once again, the Cardinals or Phillies will represent the North Division despite their third and fourth place finishes. Down south, the first place Clippers are planning their third trip to the 'ship still in search of their first league title. In their way stand the Mavericks who ousted the Giants in round one. The Mavs look to break the stranglehold the Giants and Clippers have held on the South Division since 2002.

Out west, the Reds and Pirates will fight to see who takes on the wicked winner of the East. Neither team has made it as far as the championship round yet. Not so in East, where both the Dodgers and Astros boast one championship appearance. The Dodgers were overwhelmed by a strong Somerset Sun Devils team in the 2004 championship game, while the Astros came within outs of winning last year's A League Title - falling to the Orioles by one run in game three of the 2006 championship series.

Meanwhile, our third Fall Ball season kicks off on September 16th. Previous champions of the ten game season are the Liberty Athletics (2005) and those East Brunswick Dodgers (2006).
