The 2009 campaign finally came to an end on a chilly, but sunny Sunday morning at John Phillips Park in Old Bridge, with the Edison Cubs relieving the Kearny White Sox of the Fall Ball Title by a score of 2-0. Dave Cimini started and threw seven innings of shutout ball, striking out nine, for the win. Ryan Klouser struck out the side (but not in order) in the eighth and ninth to record the save. For the Sox, Jairo Mendez fired a complete game six-hitter. The Cubs scored the game's only runs in the third when they collected three of those six hits. Cimini's rbi single plated the first run and Ed Meyer brought home the second run with an rbi grounder after fouling off seven pitches.
