Season Resumes - Thankfully

A heavy wave of thunderstorms late Saturday night made for soggy field conditions, several delayed starts, and a couple of rainouts. But all in all, most games were played and that was fortunate. It took us twelve scheduled weekends to get in half our games and we now have six Sundays to get in the second half. Rosters and pitching staffs will be tested.

Managers have all been sent a revised schedule with makeup games included. If any team has not seen it, contact the league office.

National League Leaders Available thru StatDepot! Check it out! http://naba.statdepot.com/summarystatistics.aspx

ATTENTION: Players needing to pay their league registration fee may do so by clicking here. Or they may make a check payable to RVNABA and send it to the address at the left of your screen.

Lloyd Makes RVNABA History!

John Lloyd threw nine innings of hitless ball yesterday, and in so doing became the first RVNABA player to hurl two no-hitters! Nolan Ryan is feeling the heat. Lloyd's first came on April 20,2008 - a 13-0 shutout over the Bears. Yesterday's 9-1 victory came at the expense of the Monmouth Thunder.

Some fun facts about Llloyd's 2nd no-no:

It was the 15th in league history (since 1992)

It is only the third (or fourth) nine-inning no-hitter (Jay Roman 8/8/04 6-0 SunDevils over Black Sox, and Chris Bott 9/11/05 1-0 S.A.Yankees over White Sox were the others. Most league no-hitters were either scheduled 7-inn games or shortened due to mercy rule. Lloyd's first was 7 inn by mercy rule)

It is the third non-shutout no-hitter (Ken Heard 8/20/00 3-1 A's over Marlins, and Chris DelPreore 5/5/02 12-1 Rockies over Tides were the others)

Lloyd's accomplishments come in consecutive years and for two different clubs. The first was as a member of the eventual 2008 Champion Paterson Phillies. Yesterday's effort was for Las Aguilas in their inaugural year in the league.

Fall Ball Postseason Has a Wet Start

Only the National Division was able to play on October 26. The first place Edison Blue Ducks and the second place Kearny White Sox both advanced to the division final which will take place next week. Edison triumphed over the Tigers 5-2 while the Sox eliminated the Giants 10-4.

After being rained out last week, both the Tarheels and Knights have conceded round one to their American division opponents. The Indians and Athletics therefore, will square off in the division final on Sunday.

The Liberty Athletics vaulted into the Championship with a 10-7 victory over the NJ Indians. It is their third title game appearance in four years. For the Kearny White Sox, this marks their first appearance in the big game and signifies a vast improvement for the team which finished last last year.
