A Letter From Our President
Dear Raccoon Valley Supporter:
Little League Registration is just around the corner: January 30, 2010 and February 6, 2010 from 9:00am to 2:00pm at Central Presbyterian Church. I want to provide you with an update on what has happened at Raccoon Valley this fall.
Following the tremendous support we received, the project to improve the ground West of Field #8 was started in late September. The next time you are at the park you will notice a very large open field that we hope will be available for practices as early as spring 2011. Numerous members of our board and our community have stepped to the plate to help make this project a reality.
The following service providers and their primary contacts deserve special thanks:
- Civil Design Advantage (CDA) – Civil Engineering Services, Brad Kuehl provided the design work for the project and donated the majority of the “extra” work that always accompanies these kinds of undertakings.
- McAninch Corporation – Clearing & Earthwork, Dan Sullivan provided grading and tree removal at a significantly reduced cost and came up with a cost acceptable solution for an added feature that was required by the City of Des Moines.
- Willow Creek Golf Course – Seeding, Dan Clark provided seeding for the entire space for about what it would cost most of us to seed our front yards and offered the equipment needed to resurrect our telephone line.
- Graham Construction – Construction Management, Steve Hauschilt donated the management fee for the project and essentially “loaned” Raccoon Valley his expert, John Martin.
- Qwest Communications – Telephone Line, Helene Sweet provided the project a brand new replacement telephone line when our existing line was damaged during grading.
Please take the time to thank these organizations when you have the opportunity with your support and your business. Projects like these don’t occur without the continued dedication of the Raccoon Valley Board, their families, employers and the countless members of the Raccoon Valley Family. We have a unique and special place to enjoy baseball and softball thanks to every kid, coach, parent, relative, supporter and fan that turned North off of Park Ave., braved the driveway dust, to spend part of their day at Raccoon Valley.
Thank you for helping make Raccoon Valley a great place.
Sincerely,
Jim Norland
