2012 Little League Registration Dates 

 Mail in Registration deadline is Feb 20th this is the very last day for registrations!  See Little League News and Handouts for Registration forms.  

There has been a lot of questions about putting players back in the draft for the majors this year.
Here is the policy. You must have a valid reason for requesting a player back into draft. Requesting of a specific coach is not a valid request. You must write a letter to the president of Little League and your request must have specific details. If you request is approved that does not guarantee that the same... coach can't draft you again. You can be drafted by anyone if you go back into the draft.
Kids on travel teams that are requesting to go back into the draft in hopes to get on your travel ball coaches team, you chances are slim to none as we can not allow one team to be stacked. If we find requests from travel ball coaches kids we will take action and coach may lose his team. Lastly if the number of players requesting to go back into the draft continues to be a high number. The board will replace all the current coaches and re draft the whole majors divisions.

Feb 2012 - Baseball Clinic at St Joe's College cost is $30 per player for each session.  You can attend one or all of the sessions.

BASEBALL UMPIRING INSTRUCTION ClASS
Instructor: Mark Stark
Baseball umpires play a crucial role in every game and one missed call can change the result, so the pressure is always on to be right. Learning the proper skills and position it takes to be an umpire, is vitally important to ensuring your doing the best job you can on thefield. This class is designed to help teach the basics of baseball umpiring to prepare students for working little league baseball games. The class will examine the rules of little league baseball as well as proper positioning and mechanics. No experience is necessary to attend this class.

Here is an update on the Calverton Ball Fields. Our biggest holdup was the New York State DOT Road permit. We awarded the bid and the entryway to the park is finally completed. We now have access to the Park from Route 25. We asked the Recreation Department to go ahead and finish the dugouts, line fencing and pathways. We also will complete the parking lot. This will be done in-house by our Highway and Building & Grounds crew. The monies are there from a grant we received.

We are now mowing the fields to the East for soccer and multi-purpose fields, which should be done by November 10th. Things are looking good. I will update you as progress is made to keep you and the parents in the loop.

Riverhead Little League Travel Ball Program will add a 8u, 9u, 10u, 11u,12u, 13u, 14u, 15u teams for the 2012 season!

If interested in playing travelball or coaching a team please contact Sheila Cuccia at ccoochmusic@aol.com to be placed on our list. Sign up for travelball tryouts at L.L Registration. Our goal is to have at least one travelball team in every age group.  If we have enough for two teams we will add the second team as long as we have coaches! 

The travelball teams will play as Riverhead Waves Baseball.  Currently The Riverhead Waves have a 15u,14u,11u,10u and 9u teams playing this season!

   New Rule on Composite  Bats for 2012

The Riverhead Little League Board on Feb 8th, 2011 passed a vote to ban all composite bats for the 2011 baseball season. Regardless of any bats approved by Little League International.

This years bats can be BBCOR.  We will also allow wood bats in every age group!
