Sluggers' Corner

Congratulations to this season's home run hitters!

Pitcher Blake McNamara (Cipro) walloped one out of Marsh Field on April 20, driving in three runs and marking the first home run of the season.

Second-year Little Leaguer Cory Kilcoyne (Pingitore) gave it a ride -- right out of the park on April 29.

Jeff Vigliatura (Puliafico) drove one out of the park on May 2, a pivotal move which cinched the win in a neck-and-neck race against Paxton powerhouse Comeau Excavating.

Austin Hale (Purcell) blasted not one but two (and almost three!) out of the park on May 13, helping his team to a win.

On May 16, Marty Henry (Cipro) hit a dead-center homer at Marsh Field to lead off the bottom of the second inning in a tough match against Pingitore.

Austin Hale secured four runs for Purcell with a grand slam at Tivnan against Benoit—a fiesty line drive that took no time to exit the field and his third home run of the season.

Matt Pingitore smashed a two-run homer over the left field fence in the second inning of a game against Purcell on May 27, marking his first Little League home run.

Dan Jancura (Purcell) celebrated his first home run of the season, powering a bullet to left center field against Stratton and Sons at Tivnan on May 30.

On June 1 at the Marsh, Austin Hale hit his fourth home run of the season--a towering shot to right field against Comeau Excavating. Meanwhile Blake McNamara followed suit at Tivnan, knocking out his second home run this season.

Austin Hale crushed his fifth round-tripper of the year on June 7, powering the Purcell team to an upset play-off victory over the 2nd-seeded Stratton and Sons (Paxton).

On June 11, Jeff Vigliatura's second home run of the season sailed over the center field fence at Marsh in the third inning and drove in the two runs needed to tie up the play-off game against Paxton's Benoit. The back-and-forth game was eventually won by Puliafico when power hitters rallied in the bottom of the sixth.

Austin Hale smacked a line-drive laser that got over the right-centerfield fence in a hurry for his sixth home run of the season while facing Paxton's Comeau Excavating in a semifinal play-off game at Tivnan on June 11.

Parking at Naquag Field

Just a reminder that there is no parking along the narrow thru way next to the Naguag baseball field, which runs from Naguag Elementary to Central Tree Middle School. Although it is clearly marked as such, people have been choosing to park here. Parking here presents a safety hazard, making it difficult and often impossible for regular two-way traffic to pass, and even more so should an emergency vehicle need to pass through or gain access to the field. The Rutland Police Department have advised us that those who park illegally in this no-parking zone at Naquag Field risk having their vehicle ticketed or towed.

There is ample parking space both at Naquag Elementary School and Central Tree Middle School. Please plan to park in one of these two lots and allow time to make the short walk to the field.
