Rutland Little League Baseball: Welcome
Historical records show that organized baseball has been played in Rutland, Mass., since at least 1903. In May 1952 the first Board of Directors for the Rutland Boys Baseball League were elected, and the league was incorporated with the state of Massachusetts as an official nonprofit organization in 1971. In 1989 the Rutland Boys Baseball League was restructured into Rutland Little League Baseball, Inc., and was chartered with Little League Baseball, Inc. of Williamsport, Penn. (Read more about our history by clicking on “History of Rutland Baseball” on the menu to the left.) In recent years, the league has lent its support to Rutland's softball program for girls.
Today, more than 400 boys and girls participate in Rutland Little League Baseball. In the 2012 season, the league sponsored 12 Tee-Ball teams (instructional level ages 4-6), eight AA teams (coach-pitch teams for ages 7 and 8), seven AAA teams (Little League minors level, ages 9 and 10), five LL teams (Little League majors level, ages 11 and 12), four Babe Ruth teams (ages 13-15), and the inaugural season of its first Big League team. The number of teams has grown steadily in the past five years, and Rutland Little League expects that trend to continue in the coming season.

Rutland Little League’s Annual Meeting is slated for Sunday, September 22, at 7 p.m. and will convene at the Glenwood Community Center. All are invited to attend this meeting in which the voting membership will elect the 2013 Board of Directors through official ballot. Voting membership is defined as those in good standing who officially served on the board of directors and/or as team managers and assistant coaches during the 2013 season.
The process of the election will be in accordance with the guidelines set forth by Little League International and as outlined in the Constitution. This past season, there were 17 members who served on Rutland Little League’s board directors and collectively filled 20 positions. The majority of the 2013 board members have confirmed that they will seek re-election, however a few will not be returning. Others who would like to be considered or who would like to nominate another must send a note of interest to vice president Tammy Griffin-Kumpey at firstname.lastname@example.org no later than Sept. 20, so that the name of the candidate may be included on the official ballot. All Rutland Little League parents are eligible for nomination.
The board positions will be filled with those candidates listed on the official ballot who receive the top number of votes from the voting membership, and these newly elected members will resume office on October 1, 2013 for a one-year term that extends to September 30, 2014. At the first meeting of the 2014 board of directors, date to be determined, the members of this newly elected board will consider the individual interests, talents, skills and experience of each of his or her peers and then vote as a group to decide who will best fill the positions of president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, player agent, safety officer, umpire in chief, communications officer, fundraising manager, events manager, equipment manager, uniform manager, fields manager, concessions manager, CORI officer, and coaching coordinator(s). Running Rutland Little League is a huge endeavor and even with 17 volunteers on the board last year, there was still a need for more help, so if you have an interest in serving, please do not be deterred by the number of board members who are seeking re-election. Depending on volunteer interest, the board of directors may decide to create some new positions or break up some on the larger ones into several smaller ones.
If you have questions or would like to discuss a particular position, please contact Tammy at email@example.com or 774-364-4309.

The aim is to develop players of all abilities and to increase their overall skill level and knowledge of the game. There is an emphasis on fun and fundamentals while teaching the essentials of hitting, fielding and throwing. The camp will provide participants with the knowledge of how to properly perform a skill and implement proper technique to help with success. Also, all 12 year old players will have the opportunity to play on the big diamond to get them ready for next level of play. The players will be grouped by age with an 8:1 camper to coach ratio.
