The Beta Omega Chapter of Phi Delta Chi Professional Pharmacy Fraternity from Wingate University will be hosting the second annual St. Jude Run for the Pig 5K. All proceeds collected will go to St. Jude Children’s Hospital to aid in their efforts to find a cure for childhood cancers or to put on further fundraising events for this cause. St. Jude is the largest center for research and treatment of childhood and catastrophic diseases. No child is ever turned away because of a family’s inability to pay for lifesaving care at St. Jude, which is why the donations and fundraising efforts such as the Phi Delta Chi Run For the Pig 5K are so vital to the success of the hospital.
This 5k race welcomes competitive runners as well as recreational runners/walkers and families to come togther for the common cause of raising money for the patients of St. Jude. The race will be held on the USATF certified course of Wingate University which consists of an intermediate level paved trail that is comprised of flat and rolling hills through and around the picturesque campus. Following the race will be a pig pickin' at the picnic area of the campus lake. All participants are encouraged to wear costumes, as prizes will be awarded to most creative group costume as well as to top male and female finishers.
