Ruff Neks Fastpitch Softball--From the Beginning
The Ruff Neks fastpitch team was formed in the fall of 1997 after Tim Marvin was re-acquainted with the sport and realized his slow pitch players would love it. He formed the Foothills Fastpitch Association with six teams from Jacksonville, Cabot, Floyd and McRae. From those original six teams, the league has steadily expanded to become the largest fastpitch league in Arkansas with over 40 teams in the 10U to 16U age groups from Greenbrier to North Little Rock and Lonoke to Morrilton. Although they didn't finish well in the early years in Championship play, the Ruff Neks changed that in 2000 with second place finishes in both ASA and USSSA State Tournaments and won the ASA Regional Tournament in Tulsa, OK. The team has always been successful with a combined record of 196-49 over the five fall and five summer seasons since inception. The team roster has grown and changed over the years to it's current competitive level by insisting on retaining quality people who are quality athletes as well. The team expects to build on the recent successes with continued trips to ASA Nationals and USSSA World Series tournaments !!
