Hershey Youth Track and Field Program
The Hershey Youth Track and Field Program is a great way to promote physical fitness, participation, friendships, and sportsmanship in the community. The Hershey program was established nationally in 1978 for boys and girls, 9 to 14 years of age. Participants are divided into groups by age (9 & 10, 11 &12, and 13 & 14) and sex. Events include 50 meter dash, 100 meter dash, 200 meter dash, 400 meter dash, 4-100 meter relay, 800 meter run, 1600 meter run, standing long jump, and softball throw. Each participant may compete in two running events and one field event or two field events and one running event. They may choose to participate in only one event.
Hershey is sponsored by the National Recreation and Park Association, the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports, the National Association for Sports and Physical Education, the Athletics Canada, and Hershey Chocolate North America. Russellville Local Meet

The Russellville Local Meet is usually held in April. There is never a fee to participate. First and second place winners will advance to the State Meet. At least five winners in the State Meet will fly to an all expenses paid four day weekend trip to Hershey, Pennsylvania for the North American Finals which are usually held in August. While there the participants will go on a tour of the Hershey Chocolate factory, spend an afternoon at Hershey Park, and visit Hershey Chocolate World. They will participate with kids from all fifty states and Canada at the National Meet.
The State Meet is sponsored by the Arkansas Recreation and Parks Association.
