United FA U16 Girls Make US Club Regional Finals
National Cup
The United FA 93 U16 girls attended regional competition for the US Club National Cup VIII in Modesto, California June 20-30.  United FA 93 played Novato United to a 1-1 draw and defeated E.C. United 2-0 and Elite 2-0. UFA 93 and Novato met again in the finals and after regulation and double overtime it was still a draw and it went to PK’s. UFA 93 narrowly missed a trip to the National Cup in Virginia Beach, Virginia when they were defeated in the shootout. To Prepare for the US Club National Championships in Virginia, Novato chose UFA as their pre National Championship trip opponent. Novato traveled to Damonte Ranch High School in Reno and again the teams were deadlocked at 0-0 during regulation and overtime, with Novato winning an excellent game in a PK shootout!

United FA 97 U12 Girls Reach Concord Cup Finals

The United FA 97 U12 girls attended the Concord Cup XVI in June 2009, hosted by Concord AYSO, Diablo FC and Mt. Diablo Soccer Association. The tournament included 122 teams with about 1800 players and over 200 games. Right from the beginning, the girls beat Heritage Revolution 2-1. They went on to defeat Delta Firestorm 3-2 in order to advance to the semi-finals where they took Heritage Revolution a second time 3-1. The local weather was over 100 degrees during the entire tournament, but that didn’t stop this team from advancing to the finals. In the final game, UFA 97 opposed Bay Oaks Breakerz and came away with a 1-0 loss, narrowly missing the Championship.

United Futbol Academy Director completes Asian Coaching Course

Dang Pibulvech, Technical Director of Coaching for the United Futbol Academy (Reno) and the Vice President of the Pacific Crest Premier Futbol Liga (Region 9 in the NorCal US Club Soccer organization) participated as an Instructor in the FIFA’s “Vision for Asia” program.  FIFA, the international governing body for soccer, including the World Cup, sponsors coaching education around the world.  The course was held in Chonburi Province in Thailand from January 10 through January 25, 2009.  Only 24 of the top coaches from all of Asia are invited to attend, with all their expenses paid by the Asian Football Confederation.  Coach Pibulvech, originally from Thailand, but who has called Reno home for the past 10 years, was the Assistant to the Head Instructor for the entire course.  There is only one other American Coach who has ever participated in this program.  Through this program, players in the United Futbol Academy (boys and girls ranging in age from 8 to 18 years) will eventually be able to participate in soccer exchange programs in Asia and Coach Pibulvech will be able to bring Asian Coaches and foreign exchange player/students to Reno.

United FA 97 U12 girls win Sagebrush Tournament

The United FA 97 U12 girls attended the Sagebrush Friendship Tournament October 11 & 12 in Reno. The girls went undefeated in the 3 bracket games scoring 4 goals while shutting out their opponents. UFA 97 advanced to the finals against TNT Extreme and came away with a 3-2 victory to take the Championship.



Nuestros Pequenos Hermanos receives donated uniforms

  In early August, we hauled 9 duffel bags (courtesy of McQueen High) absolutely STUFFED with RSU uniforms, McQueen uniforms & duffels, GBYSL uniforms, misc. uniforms, cleats, balls, toys and books, thanks to all of you.
  While there, the kids were on vacation from classes.  One of the scheduled events was an in-house soccer tournament for the older kids, and the rest of the 450 children watched. The El Salvadoran orphanage is one of 9 Nuestros Pequenos Hermanos orphanages in Mexico, Central, South America & the Carribbean.  Thanks to our previous donations, they hosted their first international tournament last December which included teams from Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras & Nicaragua.  Since Guatemala was the winner, they will be hosting the second annual international tournament this December.  The orphanage told us that this latest group of contributions, which included complete team uniforms, will be well utilized this December.  They were VERY appreciative.  THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP.  We will continue to collect donations as they come available.
