Highlanders,
Thank you to those who attended the meeting last night. It was a very positive experience for me and a great pleasure to meet the new parents. Welcome!
As you heard we have a little work to do in the next few months. We discussed the following:
- New Field Project - We have been told that the field project will get underway around November 15, 2008. It is to be completed by the beginning of our pre-season (February 2009).
- Financial - We were given a figure of $50,000.00 to raise for the beginning phase of this new field project. The program has generated $20,000.00 of this that will be paid to the Parks & Rec District in the next month. The remaining $30,000.00 is due at the end of February 2009. We have joined together with Simi High to raise a good portion of this remaining figure.
- In addition to the field project we are in desperate need of new uniforms and bat bags this year.
Fundraising:
We will be running the following (3) fundraisers this fall.
- Ventura Coupon Books - Our 1st fundraiser of the season. At this time we are the only organization that is running this fundraiser. Everyone should have signed out 20 books (per player) to be sold between now and September 16, 2009 (2 weeks). For those who were unable to attend the meeting Sheri Lawson will be assigning books during 6th period or at the Eliminator practice. This fundraiser is earmarked for the new uniforms and bat bags. When all money is turned in we will have generated $6,500.00. **Remember to mark your calendars for Tuesday, September 16, 2009 to meet in Royal Highs MPR @ 7:00pm. **THAT IS THE DEADLINE FOR ALL MONEY** Call me if you any question about turning in money.
- USC Concession Stand: I passed around a sign up sheet for the (6) USC Home Games that we run a concession booth. This will be on the website and updated regularly as to what times are open. This fundraiser will generate close to $6,000.00 that will go directly into the field fund. Everyone needs to commit to at least (1) day. The most important message with this fundraiser is that when you commit, follow through. Brian needs (12) people/players at each game. **Simi High will also be running a concession for this season with all proceeds going directly to the new field project**
- Co-ed Slow Pitch Tournament: Just before the they tear down the fields Royal & Simi will co-host this tournament. This fundraiser is estimated to generate around $10,000.00 of which will go directly to the new field project.
If you do the math from the above fundraisers you will see that we should complete or come very close to completing our commitment for the 1st phase of the new field project.
I believe this covers all the business that was discussed at the meeting with the exception of 6th period softball. This program is now in it's 2nd year at Royal and going strong.
