NJACs: Mennitt=Rookie of the Year + 1st Team All-NJAC; DuBois= 1st Team All-NJAC, Jake =2nd Team All-NJAC

RSC-NJ:  The NJAC was the most balanced ever---the PROFS walked away with a large number of awards--Steve Mennitt-fr=Rookie of the Year 2009 + 1st Team All-NJAC;  Eric DuBois-2 = 1st Team All-NJAC; Jake McCormack-2 = 2nd team All-NJAC.....#4,5 were Brian Quilty-3 & Kunal Sharmar-2  then came #6,7 = Michael Carotenuto-1 & Matt Angelow-2..........9-11 were Ryan Montaperto-1, Jeff Terebey-3, & Patrick Rindt-2.

2 weeks ago those appearing on the All-CTC Team was: Jake McCormack-2,Steve Mennitt-1, Eric DuBois-2,  & Brian Quilty-3.

Getting back to 10/31/2009----our top 3 ran very well----#4,5,6,7, + were a little off their game and finished too far back....where we were able to edge Ramapo last meet---Rama was able to come back with 'a little pay back.'  I guess we'll just have to return the favor at NCAA Atlantic Regional in SUNY-Geneseo.  I sure hope that SUNY means 'sunny.'

Sunday, October 25
Rowan University Hall of Fame = Dixon [200, 400, 4x4] + Colleton [Jav] are inducted 10/25/09

Rowan University:  Both of these gentlemen were All-Americans each year of their eligibility--that is frosh, soph, jr  & sr if you are keeping score.  Dixon won a NCAA 3 title each year of his participation & 2 one year.  He was the 1st NCAA Indoor Athlete of the year & the 1st NCAA Outdoor Athlete of the year & the 1st NCAA Championship Meet Athlete of the Year.  At one time he held the NCAA Championship Meet 400 record & anchored he 4 x 4 team to the 2nd fastest time ever in the NCAA Championship Meet.  His list goes on and on.  He is presently a police officer in Burlington County, NJ.

Ed Colleton was on the same team 3 years with Richie Dixon---WOW- one team 2 future Hall of Famers.  Ed was a Javelin specialist and made All-American all 4 years--Frosh =4th, soph = 3rd, jr = NCAA Champ [in St. Paul, MN] & sr = 2nd.  He had his best result [66.88m] when he won the Penn Relays---Ed was NJAC champ 4 times of course. He won so many meets up and down the East Coast it was hard to keep track of his wins & records.  Ed is presently with an Elite Swat Team, NJ State Police, Homeland Security Group.

We had some  fun and interesting times when these guys were competing!

2 PROF ALL-AMERICANS help Shore AC "win" Team Nationals at ICAHN Stadium

Bronx, NY:  ICAHN Stadium:  The 2 day USTFA Club Nationals ended with Shore AC [NJ] being crowned Men's 2009 National Champion.  Our current 2 time All American [2008 + 2009] Kyle Hayes, soph, finished 5th in the LJ with a great series.  His best jump was 7.18m(w = +1.2mps) Series =  [ 7.15m, 7.08m, 6.94m, 7.03m, 7.18m & a real, long, contested foot foul].  2 time  All American, Aaron Braxton [SP + DT] scored a 4th in the DT for big points in this event.  So it was a great day to be a PROF as well as a Shore AC team member while on Randle's Island competing in the 2009 USTFA Club Team Nationals.

Wednesday, July 8
Whoa Nellie---It is Official--USTFCCCA awards 2009 Outdoor Men's Track--National All-Academic Team

New Orleans, LA:  The USTFCCCA announces Rowan University's Men Outdoor Team wins All-Academic Honors for 2009 season.  This is a first for the guys....we had a bunch of 'heavy lifters' in the upper classmen ranks---thanks to the engineers, accountants, business, music and others that earned a lot of "Quality Points" with their Credits Earned.  This enabled us to  get over the 3.10 team cum GPA, which was the qualifying standard.  There were 39 guys calculated in this GPA determination.  We also needed the championship meet points provided by Hayes-LJ and Biehn-JT [both All-Americans] at the NCAAs.  The women earned this in 2000 & 2001 [when KD scored big at the NCAAs] and the rest of the women piled up the good grades.

With Sean Biehn's 2009 Academic All-American [3rd ever] & Greg Kuczynski's NCAA Fellowship Grant [2nd ever] we had some high level awards to end the season.  Put your mind to it and you'll be the next student-athlete ranking in these awards!!

Tuesday, July 7
Biehn-jr, JT All-American, adds Academic All-American to the 2009 Season's accolades!!!
Sean is only the 3rd male Prof to receive this honor---1996 = John Bocci, hj, Burl. City;  2006 = Rob Godfrey,sp, Millville; 2009 = Sean Biehn, JT, Burl. City.  Two Females have achieved this Lisa Morrero, 440h, Williamstown & Kathy Darling,jt + dt, 2000 & 2001, DE.  This is a very tough award to achieve [USTFCCCA-the national xc/track & field governing body]

Wednesday, June 24
Kuczynski really does it this time---2009 NCAA Postgraduate Fellowship Grant winner--only the 2nd from GSC/Rowan!!!

The air is really getting thin at this level...the only other winner the whole Rowan University has had was Spring-2003.  When Johanna Kline, Chemical Engineer, with almost a 4.00 cumGPA took one home. She is now a MD, Dr. Johanna Kline-Kim.  She also was a XC, indoor, outdoor athlete who competed all 4 years.

We have had 43 National Champs[m/w] + 18 NCAA records at the championship meet---but only 2 NCAA Postgraduate Fellowship Grant winners.  This is an indication of how hard the competition is for this achievement.  Amazing !!!  Who will step up and be next?

Tuesday, June 23
W O W--Will wonders ever cease? 2009 Men's Outdoor Team awarded -- National All-Academic Team--1st ever for the guys--USTFCCCA
Good Golly--everything MUST be lined up perfectly for this to occur.  There were 39 team members and they had to attain a cum of 3.100 gpa.  In order to accomplish this: 1st. the team had to place at the NCAA's [thanks for the 10 pts.--Sean B. &  Kyle H]  2nd- you must have some great students who are upper level and have anbundance of Quality Points [QP] to make up for the guys who don't fare so well.  3rd- cumQP/cum Credits must = 3.100 or greater.  The fellows who did the heavy lifting were:  Engineers, Accountants, other Business, some misc. majors and a music major + others.  When all was said and done the 39 guys hit a 3.16 gpa which easily qualified for the honor.  This will be announced after July 1, 2009.  The women's team  had this honor in 2000 +2001--Kathy Darling would score big at the NCAA's [16pts & 15 pts-2 NCAA Titles]and the women back home rolled in the great grades.

Thursday, June 18
Giddyup ! ! ! Kuczynski gets CoSida/ESPN Academic All-American-National Team {XC/T&F}

This is the 3rd time Mark has won this award this season.  This was also the 3rd time he got a NCAA provo. mark in the L J in 2009.

Hold on to your Hats--Lisa = NJAC Rookie of the Year + NCAA Provo--Corey=JT Champs & Tholis-fr, K G-110h, all get NCAA Provos++MORE, MORE, MORE

2009 NJAC Championships Events where we scored 10 or more points [= to 1st place]:  1500m = Rivera -8 & Chapman-fr-3 for 11 pts---5000m Rivera-8pts + K'ski-4pts + McCormack-fr-1 for 13 pts---10,000m= Quilty-so-5pts, Ratty-sr-4pts, Terebey-so-2 for 11 pts.. 110H-Nehemiah=3rd for 6 & Bradley-so = 4 pts = 10 total;  3000SC-Vasta-sr=8 pts &  Fessler-so-4pts for 12pts;  LJ = Lisa-fr 10, Hayes-so-8pts for 18 big ones & finally the really big one with 29 points coming from the Jav--10 from Corey-jr, 8 from Tholis-fr, Tronco-sr = 6pts with a seasons PB by 4 meters & finally Ruggeri-fr = 5 pts....Thus the grand total for these 7 events is 104 points.  + KG and Biehn were unable to compete & they would have been big points. Mark Lisa-L J, Sean Corey -JT & Matt Tholis -  + Kevin Gauntt-jr--110mH all had NCAA Provos.  Probably the most amazing performance of the day was Antonio Tronco with a 4m improvement in the Jav...we all knew that Rowan would take 3rd place in the Jav---we just thought it would be someone other than TRONC.  This gives TRONC an ALL-NJAC award for his final home meet.  We had some other worthy performances by a lot of guys during the day.

Was Mike Rivera Rowan's high point man at 16 points [2nd in both 1500m + 5000m]???  Mike took a lot of interesting 'headbones' in those two races. Just shows what alot of hard work & a passion for racing will achieve!  Let me know of others that scored 11 or more points.  I'll have to put my computer buddy on this case.

NJAC's X-C = 3rd----Rivera, Vasta & Kuczynski make All-NJAC X-C Team
Pomona, NJ:  The 'pack' got split up & never recovered.  #1, 2, & 3 pulled it off with a nice run[11 sec. spread].  #'s 4, 5, & 6 had a rough day [70-80 sec. behind # 3] in the heavy rain & were alittle off their game.  That big gap came back to bite us in the caboose and pushed us down to 3rd in the team race.  On an average day we walk out of there with an easy 2nd.  I guess we'll have to hike up our britches and do it up at the NCAA Atlantic Regional on Van Cortdland Park [11/10/2007].

Jaun Sanchez #26 & Scott McCarthy #27 were 2 seconds back of #7, Q-man.  Nick Huddy#51 & John Fessler #62 also ran.  The top  25 finishers are 2007 All-CTC--so that is our top 7 finishers including Quilty.  This was the Profs 3rd XC Crown in 4 years.   The NJACs are next week at the same site.  We had a nice corp of family & alumni [Johnny G, Nicodeamus, Dude, Keith Urban, the Boz] on hand to cheer for the guys.  (an aside--Ringo remeasured the 6K course and found it to be 260 meters long--therefore our times look more realistic.  Ringo remeasured 3 times)

Saturday, September 29
Rivera leads Profs on an all out assult on 8K PR's at the Tidewater Classic [Winter Place Park, MD]

Lots of PR's at Tidewater Classic
Salisbury, MD: The Prof men are starting to see some results as they all est. new season PR's for 8000m x-country. Erik G, Nick DeS, & Scott F. all looked great as they knocked of tons of time from 2003 Tidwater. Next we had a group of 3 [Dan U, Brian Henderson, and Joe Minch] within 10 sec. of each other + all had bigtime PR's.s Matt Filandro-1 was next with a nice run---Ralph Harris-2---cluster of three[Adam Palmentieri-4, Ryan Conboy-1 & Jason all fairly close]---a 3rd cluster of three[Shane Thompson-1,Sean McGinnis-1, Juan Sanchez-1] all of whom bested 2003's 6th man. Dan O'Keefe-1 was our final man in and he too was ahead of 2003's 6th man. This was contested in heavy rain for the 2nd meet in a row. The men wound up a strong 4th behind 2 nationally ranked DII teams.

The Prof women were led over the 6000m course by Arianna Stefanoni-3 and Amanda Siccardi-4 in 17th/19th. Again we were faced with a very fast paced race over a fast course in heavy rain and high heat. Our next group of 3 [Lisa Bertulis-3,Katelyn Sammon-1 came in together and Nicole Weidl-3 ran her best race everjust a few seconds back of Lisa and Katelyn. Kristin Blair-4, Melissa Dearborn & Stephanie Donato-4 finished in a goup back more than they would generally be in a race. They have assorted dings, etc. Kim Capps-1 was the next Prof in to end the scoring for the day. Both men/women must get used to racing over a flat, fast course....they are all strong enough, they just have to become race hardened over the faster courses. We'll be ready by November 2004.
