A Little About the League:
We have 3 levels of baseball:
Coach pitch, which is beginner baseball for boys and girls. The age group is generally 6-8 year olds.
Kid pitch which is ages 7-10 years old and then finally
Little League which is 9-12 years old. With little league there are tryouts and the kids are picked on teams. The number of kids picked depends on the number of available spots each team has.
The games are generally played from late April to early June, about 7 or 8 weeks. We try to get each team 2 games per week. Sometimes it is one game during the week and one on Saturday. Other weeks it's two games per week and none on the weekends. Game times are 6PM during the week and they vary on Saturday. Saturday can be 10 or 12 noon starts. The days of the week have not been decided yet but we stay away from Wednesday games because many kids have CCD (religion) classes and we try not to schedule Friday games. When we make up games that have been rained out they may be played on a Wednesday or Friday but we generally don't schedule them. A season is 13-16 games, depending which league your child is in. We schedule on the high side so if we have a lot of rainouts and can't make them all up it's not a big deal.
Practices start at the end of March or early April, depending on weather. Coaches usually practice twice a week. Once games begin most coaches don't continue practice except if they feel one is needed.
