THUNDER 16U Continues to Roll!
Rockland Thunder U16 RED wrapped up their season with a 1st Place Tournament WIN in the UNION COUNTY ASA UMPIRES tournament. Unlike in last week's championship game, Thunder U16 was victorious against NJ Heist 3-1. It was a great way to end the season which was a huge success, not only in the team's overall record (40-8-2) but also in team chemistry, comradery and FUN! U16 RED's overall season final record is 40-8-2. U16 RED's competed in some college showcases, some 18U tournaments, and some 16U tournaments. These were sanctioned by PONY, ASA, USSSA, F.A.S.T., and Triple Crown Sports in order to insure competition with different A teams from all over including a USA All Star team based in Colorodo. While the softball record speaks for itself, the coaches want to thank all the players and families for participating in the greatest environment of THE Team CONCEPT they've ever been involved with. The girls all contributed to the MAGIC of great bonding and full support for one another, and we're sure they all will look back on this team years down the road and treasure the MAGIC!

THUNDER 14U RED WINS BEACON EXTREME!
Dominating pitching, solid defense, and clutch hitting wins games. An old adage perhaps, but certainly one the Rockland Thunder 14U-Red team delivered on this past weekend. The team went 6-0, outscoring their opponents 41-6, to win their initial tournament of the 2011 Season in Beacon, NY. Pitcher's Caroline Kardashian, Mandy McCarthy and Katherine Gilbride positioned the team to capture the number 1 seed with their Saturday performances. Mandy and Caroline had overpowering outings on Sunday to bring the title home. The defense was anchored by Shortstop Sam Alicandri and 2B Erin Woods. They not only excited the fans with some breathtaking plays, culminating in Erin winning the Most Valuable Player of the Tournament, but they also helped set the table all weekend long from the #1 and #2 spots in the order. When a ball did sneak by them, outfielders Paige Godlewski, Jules Madigan, and Erica Collura were there to make every catch and demonstrate the strong depth of the team at every position. Catchers Dee O'Malley and Sam Miller provided the key hits on Sunday. Dee's 2 RBI double deep down the left field line in the semi-final on Sunday versus the Dutchess Debs was all that was needed to secure a 2-0 Win. Sam's Grand Slam in the 4th inning in the Final was the key hit to break open a tight game versus the Conklin Raiders (Binghamton). The Thunder Red will continue their season next week at the Dutchess Debs Father Day Frenzy in Saugerties, NY.
