Slammers Undefeated in Londonderry
The 14U Rochester Slammers were unstoppable at the Londonderry ASA Halloween Tournament in Londonderry, NH this past weekend October 30th and 31st, 2010. The Slammers were definitely firing on all cylinders with crushing offense and spectacular defense the Slammers outscored their opponents with an impressive 34 – 1 score. Magnificent pitching by Kaley Patterson, Lauren Jones and Laura Fraser would allow only 1 unearned run for the entire weekend. Patterson devastated opponents by only allowing just 2 hits all weekend and striking out 42 of the 58 batters she faced. The offense had hits up and down the line up and aggressive base running racked up the points for the Slammers. The Slammers beat the New England Fire Birds 12 – 1, NH Fusion 12 – 0 on Saturday and the Mystics 9 – 0 and the Black Widows 1 – 0 on Sunday. The Black Widows were the only close game the Slammers would see in the Tournament. Jordan Raab’s single to right field scoring Brittany Chandler from third in the first inning would give the Rochester Slammers a 1 run edge over the Black Widows as both defenses settled in for a scoreless rest of the game. The Rochester Slammers took the overall tournament by remaining undefeated.
