RMSLL Minor Champions Thornydale defeats Red Mountain 7 - 3. Red Mountain eliminated from tourney. July 23, 2009 Red Mountain kept Thornydale within striking distance with a very strong defense. Bottom of the first inning - Deep line drive to right field; Bailey, Makensie, Krista to Taylor combine to throw the number three hitter out at the plate. Later in the first, Demi catches pop up to end the inning. Brittany maintained her solid support by completing two unassisted outs at first base in the second and third innings. Fifth inning; Taylor and Krista catch a runner attempting to steal second to get the first out. Thornydale provided hitting power in the first inning by gathering 3 hits and 4 runs. Bailey pitched strong the remainder of the game and faced 17 batters and struck out 9 in 4 innings. Awesome performance.
Red Mountain looses the tie breaker to San Tan by 0.040 points. A difference of less then one run or one-half inning for the four games in pool play. A very tough break for the Red Mountain team. 33/21 (SanTan) versus 29/18 (Red Mountain)

Red Mountain beats Camp Verde in game 3. July 22, 2009. Red Mountain pitching, defense, and aggressive base running leads to an 18 - 8, five inning victory. Red Mountain struggled in the first inning by allowing 6 runs. That all ended in the second inning. Krista, Bailey, and Demi combined to strike out 9 batters. Middle relief pitcher, Bailey was absolutely awesome by striking out 5 of 7 batters faced. Behind the Red Mountain pitchers was an outstanding defense. Brittany completed an unassisted out in the top of the first. Zoe, Krista, Brittany combined for two ground outs in the second. Demi completed a ground out in the third. In the fifith, Mya completed two exceptional fielding outs to end the inning. Camp Verde held Red Mountain's hits to a minimum. However, Red Mountain base running dominated to complete the victory. Red Mountain plays Thornydale tonight at 7:30. Each team has 3 wins and 0 losses. This game will determine what teams advance to the semi-finals. Red Mountain cruises to win game 2 against Blue Ridge. July 21, 2009. Red Mountain pitching dominated the game from start to finish. The pitching tandem of Krista and Bailey allowed only 19 batters to reach the plate in the 3.5 inning game and allowed only 5 runs. The defense helped; Savannah collected the final out in the first to deep center field, as well as, Brittney and Krista turning an awesome double play to end the game. The bats were hot in the first inning. The one-two batters, Krista and Brittney, each singled and scored to begin the 4 run first inning. From there the Blue Ridge pitching struggled by allowed 34 batters to face the plate and 20 runs to score. The final score resulted in a Red Mountain 20 - 5 victory. Tonight's 5:30 game will be against Camp Verde Little League. Camp Verde is 1 - 1 and Red Mountain is now 2 - 0. Note the early start; don't be late. Red Mountain defeats Chandler National in Game 1. July 20, 2009 Red Mountain managed to survive high winds, slight rain, and distant lightning to dominate Chandler National in a 23 - 9, 4 inning victory. Krista provided solid pitching, and with a firm defense, only allowed 1 earned and struck out 4 in the first 2 innings. Red Mountain managed some timely hits by Mya, Krista, and Sierra, with the rest of the line up tearing up the base paths and racking up 11 runs to finish the 2nd inning. Offense continued to get on base, advance, and score in the 3rd and 4th innings. Demi completed the game in the 4th inning by only allowing 1 hit and striking out 3. Next game will be played tonight at 8:00 pm, against Blue Ridge Little League on field number 2. Players, please arrive early. Red Mountain - District 7 Champions. June 18, 2009 Red Mountain won the 3 games series with a 10-8 come from behind victory over Mountain View on Thursday night to earn a spot in the Arizona State Tournament. Mountain View started the 1st inning with 3 runs, added 2 more in the 2nd and held Red Mountain scoreless through the first 2 innings. Red Mountain started the comeback in the 3rd inning with 4 runs and added 3 more in the 4th to complete the 4th inning with a Mountain View 8-7 lead. Red Mountain pitching was able to shut Mountain View down in the 5th with 3 up and 3 down. Red Mountain then added 3 more runs in the bottom half of the 5th to take a 10-8 lead. Red Mountain pitching again held Mountain View scoreless in the top half of the 6th to complete the game with a final score of 10-8. Throughout the game, Mountain View’s defense was solid by completing 11 put-outs and 3 strikeouts. Red Mountain’s aggressive base running, timely hitting, outstanding fielding and positive attitude were keys to the victory. Red Mountain Bats Silent in Game 2 Loss. June 17, 2009 Red Mountain managed to hold an 11-8 lead through 4 innings. However, Mountain View’s 10 run 5th sealed the game. Mountain View’s pitching handled the Red Mountain batters with 9 strike outs and the defense was outstanding by recording 8 put-outs. At times, it appeared there were 10 players on the field. The Red Mountain defense held their own by completing 6 put-outs. Pitching managed to strike out 12 batters and only allowing 4 hits, 3 from Mountain View’s solid 1st baseman. However, Red Mountain's pitching struggled with walks and passed balls. The nearly 3 hour/6 inning game ended with Mountain View beating Red Mountain 19-11. The series is tied at 1 game apiece. The final District 7 Championship game with be played tonight at 7:00, Quail Run field #1. Red Mountain will be wearing their Victor Red jerseys.
Red Mountain Dominates in Game 1. June 16, 2009 Red Mountain wins game 1 in a 17-8 victory over Mountain View. Red Mountain pitching struck out 9 batters and only allowed 4 hits in the 6 inning game. The game was close through the 5th inning and Red Mountain held only a 1 run 8–7 lead. Mountain View’s defense was strong with 14 put outs in the field. However, Red Mountain continued to put the ball in play, produced 8 hits and did not have a single strike out while sending 42 batters to the plate in the game. Red Mountain defense also proved to be strong with 8 put outs in the field; include 2 pass ball catcher / pitcher outs in the 2nd and 3rd innings. Red Mountain turned it up in the 6th; sending 14 batters to the plate and scoring 9 runs. Aggressive base running and determined batters in the top of the 6th helped secure the lead to complete game 1.
