River Valley Soccer Club Announces New Club Logo!

image_name2

River Valley Soccer Club is proud to introduce it's new club logo, designed by Katy Eckerman.  The logo has been updated and reflects a soccer badge to represent our river valley through both green and blue colors depicted in a triangle shape.  The image also portrays the texture of a soccer ball.

River Valley Soccer Club, also known as RVSC, is located in Osceola, Wisconsin and serves the surrounding communities by offering youth fitness through recreational soccer.

The club also offers soccer tournament play in the region and soccer camp opportunities.  Located on the St. Croix River in Northwest Wisconsin, we look forward to continued opportunities for families in our area to teach soccer to children ages 5 to 19.

RVSC is affiliated with AYSO, American Youth Soccer Organization, a 501c3.

Soccer Tournament Teams for Spring/Summer 2014

What are RVSC Soccer Tournament Teams?

Tournament Teams are teams that are formed in addition to our Regular program.  They are meant to provide EXTRA competition and training to those kids who seek it.  These are new for Spring 2014 and are formed under the Guidelines of AYSO EXTRA.

How old are the kids who play on Tournament Teams?

We are planning for gender-specific teams at each age from U10 to U19, if enough interest exists.

Do I have to be a member of AYSO, or can I just play on the Tournament Team?

Yes, every player must first be a regular AYSO member.  We will continue to adhere to the AYSO philosophy of "Balanced Teams" so that means tournament team players will not all be placed together on a regular AYSO team.  Tournament Team players will come together for EXTRA practices.

Do I have to be a member of River Valley Soccer Club (Region 1005)?

No, our tournament teams are also open to kids who are members of other local AYSO regions.  So if you are a member of Region 1437 (St. Croix Falls) or 1556 (Unity Area) you can join.  Please indicate your interest by sending an email to Paul Smith, RVSC Regional Commissioner, at coachpaulsmith@gmail.com

How much extra practice is required?

Practice dates and times subject to the decision of the coach.

Will there be a tryout required?

It is not expected that we will need a tryout - we hope to accomodate everyone who wishes to participate.  However, in the event a tryout is needed, a Tryout Protocol will be enacted.  There will be two tryout dates.  To ensure impartiality, the tryout selections will be made by coaches who are independent of the team for which the tryout is being conducted.

Who will coach the Tournament Teams?

We are seeking parent volunteers.  We will provide "Extra" coach training.  Please consider volunteering as a coach!  If you have questions, send a message to Paul Smith, RVSC Regional Commissioner, at coachpaulsmith@gmail.com

What uniform will be used?

We will use the new 2014 River Valley Soccer Club uniform kit, with the addition of a turquoise blue "Away" jersey.  The cost of the Tournament kit is $35.  If you have already purchased a regular 2014 Uniform Kit, you can add a Blue "Away" jersey for $15.

What are the costs?

The costs include regular AYSO Club membership ($35-45 depending on when you register, and payable to your home region), the uniform cost ($35, payable to RVSC) and the cost of playing in the tournaments (estimated $110 - 130, payable to RVSC.)  The final tournament cost will be determined, and the payment will be due in two installments, due April 20 and May 20.  Financial assistance is available for registration fee and uniform only (see form found in the Handouts section at left).  Financial assistance is not available for Tournament Team fees.

How do I register?

If you are joining RVSC, please register at www.eAYSO.org.  After registering, you will have the opportunity to purchase a Tournament Team uniform for $35.  By paying for a tournament team uniform, you will signal that your child is interested in playing on a tournament team.   If the 2/28/14 RVSC registration deadline has passed, or if you are from a neighboring region, please email Paul Smith, RVSC Regional Commissioner, at coachpaulsmith@gmail.com to indicate your interest.

In what tournaments will we play?

Our 2014 tournaments have been chosen to be within easy driving distance of Osceola.  The expected schedule includes:

1.  Baldwin (June 21)

2.  Burnsville (June 27-29)  http://www.burnsvillefire.org/FIREcup

3.  Schwan's USA Cup (Blaine, MN, either July 11-13 (U10-U12) or July 15-19 (U14-U19).  The Schwan's Cup is the largest tournament in the Western Hemisphere, and the interaction with foreign players provides a true "World Class" soccer experience.  This experience will surely form memories for a lifetime.   Please take a look at the USA Cup website, and watch the embedded youtube video  http://www.usacup.org/page/show/493567-promotional-video

Game times will be determined by the Tournament organizers and are subject to change.  Note that some games may be scheduled on week days.  If parent/guardians are not able to attend due to work schedules, it is suggested that a ride be found for the player with teammates or coaches.

What is the deadline for signing up?

We must have commitments on April 15. It would tremendously help in the organization of the teams if players would make commitments and pay for the Uniforms as soon as possible.

If you have additional questions, please contact Paul Smith, RVSC Regional Commissioner, at coachpaulsmith@gmail.com or 715-410-6047 (phone or text).
