Valley View Boys Outkick Poly to Share; VDL Girls Are IVL Champs One of the most improved squads here in 2012 have been the Ravens of Vista del Lago. Possessing a strong 1-2-3 punch last year, they backed it up with solid group of five as they ran the table for the Inland Valley League Title. Sophomore Joy Ngula earned the individual league title with senior teammate Briana Fonseca right behind her for 2nd place. In placing five girls in the top ten, they scored 24 points to runner-up Riverside Poly at 47 points. JW North earned that 3rd spot in scoring 57 points. On the boys side, the depth of Riverside Poly had prevailed to go into the IVL finals in 1st place ahead of Valley View. But, led by Emilio Nunez easy 41 second victory, the Eagles of Valley View made it count with a one point victory! Valley View's #5 John Hood was able to outlean Poly's #7, giving them that needed extra point for the slim victory. Valley View's #3 Jordan Rebello was also able to outkick a Poly boy over the last several meters to make the difference. So, both squads will share the 2012 Inland Valley League title. Nunez and Valley View are now in Division II with Nunez moves on as one of the top boys in all of that division. Rancho Verde outleaned JW North for 3rd place as a young resurgent RV crew features two freshmen in their top five. No Hector Hernandez in the results (Div. I CIF individual finalist in 2012) in the results as Canyon Springs finished in 5th place but they do move on as a team due to their success in earlier meets. Vista del Lago junior James Williams will also advance as an individual.
