ML King Brings the Broom to the Big VIII League Finals
BIG 8 LEAGUE FINALS RESULTS

Girls Varsity Girls JV Boys Varsity Boys JV

One of the finest programs in the Inland Empire, ML King ran away with league titles in ALL four races!   Competing on a slower 5k course, times were 45-50 seconds slower (averaging out the top 30 varsity boys) than what most ran on the Mt. SAC course two weeks ago.

Both girls' races were easily in King's control all throughout.  But, the boys varsity race came all the way down to the wire.  A ferocious kick by ML King senior Nathan Torres over the last 400 yards to outkick Roosevelt's #3 and #4 boys made the difference in the one point victory (not overlooking how King's #7 pushed up the score as well)!   Roosevelt's Kyle Warrick ran to the league title with a nice surprise behind him in teammate Tyler Satterfield.  Santiago's Robert Lopez qualified as an individual to CIF in taking 4th place.

On the girls side, unfortunately, prerace favorite McKennah Genovese, fell victim to a stress fracture for the second year in a row.  Corona junior Alicia Williams easily ran to the individual league title with ML King's Raelyn Werley leading her group to their 11th league title in the past twelve seasons!   Corona easily took 2nd place while a nice surprise here in Roosevelt's girls.  They took 3rd place and with Santiago taking 5th place here, Roosevelt gets the nod to CIF.  This is their first postseason trip in school history.   Centennial's Bethany Newton qualified as an individual.
