The favorites stayed true to form, coming as the first place teams thus far, and coming out as 2012 league champs. Beaumont's boys continue their quest to the Div. II CIF Finals as they scored 25 points to Hemet's 39. League champ Doug Palmer outlasted his own teammate, Scott Oseguera as they had three across the line before anybody else. Hemet features four underclassmen in the top five so watch for them next year. West Valley secured a spot to CIF in 3rd place. We cannot remember the last time a West Valley squad qualified for the postseason. San Jacinto junior Justin Vega took 5th place and qualified as an individual to next weekend's CIF Prelims.
San Jacinto's girls ran away with the league title with an incredible 27 second gap and a narrow three point victory over Beaumont. The Tigers have been the most difficult team to gauge in that we had Beaumont primed to pull the upset after their impressive performance at Mt. SAC two weeks ago. Hemet sophomore Taylore Cantu outlasted Beaumont freshman Kailie Grimes for the league title. They were in their own league, over a minute ahead of 3rd place and the beginning of that impressive San Jac pack. It came to that 5th as Beaumont held a one point lead after four scorers. Hemet secured that 3rd spot to CIF.
