Paloma Valley Owns the Sunbelt League Finals

Paloma Valley's girls continued to roll into the postseason where they will seek their first ever CIF Finals berth.  Winning the league title by over a minute on a tough course, senior Kiara McIntosh added to her resume.  PV had the first five scorers in a clean 15 point sweep over the rest of the league as this was their 4th straight league title.  Heritage sophomore Kristen Briseno earned an at-large individual berth to CIF with her 6th place finish.  Temescal Canyon's girls took 2nd place while Lakeside moves on to CIF as the 3rd entrant from the Sunbelt League.

Paloma Valley's boys earned their 6th straight league title as junior Zack Caster earned the individual league title.  He outlasted Heritage junior Alejandro Castellanos, who moves forward as an individual to the CIF postseason.  Paloma Valley placed five in the top eight to secure the easy 26 point victory.  The top four finishers were all underclassmen here along with seven of the top nine!  So, we expect to see an overall improvement in this league in 2013.  Elsinore easily secured the 2nd place slot while Temescal Canyon's boys move on to CIF for the first time in ... well, a long time!

At the Junior Varsity levels, Paloma Valley dominated there as well with seven of the top eight boys and 14 of the top 16 on the girls side!  A one sided affair to say the least.... Girls JV league champ, Monica Trejo of PV ran the same time as the 10th place finisher in the varsity race and would have earned 2nd team all-league honors.
