Mountain Pass League #1
Here are the results from the first Mountain Pass League cluster meet held yesterday at Diamond Valley Lake in Hemet. The course was very hot and extremely dry (6% humidity reported). The 3.0 mile course had 2 moderate hills in a 2 loop set-up.
Girls: Beaumont dominated the race individually and in the team portion. Ashley Cervantes took the lead at the start and continued to pull away from the field all the way to the finish line. Teammate Jazmin Romero caught San Jacinto's Celene Batrez with a mile to go to claim second place. The remaining Beaumont girls finished 4th, 6th, 7th, 8th and 15th to claim the victory with only 17 points (after removing incomplete team finishers). The Rubidoux girls, paced by Dulce Pliego in 5th, took second place, only two points ahead of the Selena Gallardo led Tahquitz team.
Boys: Rubidoux's Mueen Ghoury took over the lead after a half mile and cruised to victory while the rest of the pack was fighting for positions behind him. Teammate Angel Perez moved into 2nd place near the two mile mark and was never caught again. The lead pair allowed Rubidoux to claim the team title over Heritage, led by Jose Guiterrez in 7th place, by a score of 52 to 63. Beaumont (69) claimed the 3rd spot and Banning (78) finished in 4th.
