Murrieta Valley Boys Gear Up for Nike Team Nationals

While most athletes were done with their seasons four weeks ago, the season goes on for the studs from Murrieta Valley.  Well, as is now the case the last two seasons - we need to clarify and acknowledge that we're writing about the Nighthawks of Murrieta Valley...Murrieta West perhaps?  They make the FREE trip up to Portland, Oregon where Nike will cater them to an awesome experience.  On Saturday morning, in brisk 40 degree weather, they will tackle the very best in all of the United States.  Steve Chavez's Murrieta Valley program is the first in California to send two boys boys' and girls' squads to the NTN.  Can they leapfrog over Dana Hills and the tough Loyola squads?  Stay tuned...

Great Oak's girls will look to repeat their success from 2006 in the Girls' Open race.  Meanwhile, Vista Murrieta boys are one of the favorites in the Boys' open race.  Some incredibly motivated and determined will represent the county this weekend...

Staying closer to home, several of our top athletes are entered in the Footlocker Regional race this Saturday at Mt. SAC.  Santiago's Steven Crum and Corona's Raul Arcos are entered in the Boys' Seeded Race.  Chaparral's Sierra Vega, Norco's Caitlin Villareal and Hemet's Ashley Beechan are entered in the Girls' Seeded Race.
