There's a lot to update from this weekend! Here's some quick glances...
***Great Oak's girls rolled at the Stanford Invite! Competing against some of the best in the western U.S., Abbey Gallaher ran to an awesome 18:38 while they finished just behind Davis' girls, who were ranked #10 in California for Division I. Running in the Girls' Sweepstakes, they actually would have beaten Davis in a dual meet format, 27-28! And, from the initial looks of it, they did not run at 100% with only six finishers. (no Pecha or A. Gallaher??) Their boys were led by Kyle Dickerson once again who is really having a solid breakout season.
***La Sierra's boys put together their best team effort this season at the College Park Invitational. Steven Norton motored to a 14:55 and is definately ready for the IEC next weekend! A great team gap is what impressed us most as their boys are beginning to develop in a CIF Finalist squad once again.
***Vista Murrieta's Girls cruised to the fastest overall team times at the Brea Olinda Invitational. The slower 3.1 course saw VM's Kristina Taylor run 19:33 (fastest of the day). Their boys took 2nd overall to the #2 - Div. I ranked Valencia by only 35 seconds (7 seconds per man.) VM's Chase Welch ran the 2nd fastest time as he was also their #1 runner for the day. VM had a team gap of 66 seconds.
***Norte Vista is back on top of the Sunkist League. In recent results, their boys were able to crush Bloomington with newly comformed Patriot taking 3rd. Meanwhile, on the girls' side, NV was able to distance themselves from Patriot (2nd) and Jurupa Valley. Keep in mind, that many former Rubidoux athletes stayed on at Patriot while the "new" Rubidoux High was forced to freelance this season and start anew.
***Corona's boys took a respectable 4th place at the Kenny Staub Invitational with a solid team time. They finished behind Loyola (#1-Div. II), Barstow (#1-Div. III) and Crescenta Valley (#4-Div. I). Raul Arcos raced to an impressive 15:38 on a course that runs 18-20 seconds slower than Mt. SAC. Freshman Michael Gauger ran a 16:20 while sophomore Alan Cuevas ran a 16:28. Converted to the Mt. SAC course, Corona's boys break 81:00 while Arcos was their only senior in their top seven. On the girls' side, Malaysia Alexander ran a 19:05 for Corona as they took 2nd place to Crescenta Valley's girls.
