Handout: Score Cards

SCORING :

Matches will be BEST OF TWO SETS

Matches will be scored traditionally (Love, 15, 30, 40) and dueces are to be played out. Matches will consist of the best of two sets in the 1 1/2 hour time limit.

A player (or players) who first wins six games wins a set; except that he/she must win by a margin of two games over his opponent and where necessary a set shall be extended until this margin is achieved.

If during the set you reach 6 games ALL, play the Set Tie-Break. Matches will consist of the best of two sets in the 1 1/2 hour time limit.

At one set ALL – if you get that far, play a Super Tie-Break, which is the first team to "10" points by a margin of 2. Do not report a third set that was played out. Do the tiebreaker ONLY.  If you are unable to complete the matches in the time allotted, the total number of games won will determine the winner.

If your time should run out, please report the scores as they are as of the time alloted. Such as 6-4 2-5, the winner will be determined by the total number of GAMES won, which in this case was 8-9.

TIE BREAKERS

All Leagues will use the Set Tie-Breaker; the first to seven points and you must win by two and a SUPER Tie-Breaker in lieu of the 3rd set.

The person scheduled next to serve, serves ONE point, the next server serves two and so on until you have reached the SEVEN points, by a margin of TWO.

This tie-breaker is started from the DUECE court, second server starts from the AD court.

Super Match Tie-Breaker; the first to ten points and you must win by two.

The person scheduled next to serve, serves ONE point, the next server serves two and so on until you have reached the TEN points, by a margin of TWO.

This tie-breaker is started from the DUECE court, second server starts from the AD court.

REPORTING SCORES
ALL PLAYERS ARE TO REPORT THE SCORES - you can email them to SCORES.

Please state, which Teams/Players were playing, who won the match and the scores from each set. I had to chase down too many scores last year.

All unreported scores become a forfeit of the Home Team/Player.

Examples of how to report the scores:

Jones won; Smith vs. Jones 1-6, 6-2, 0-1

Jones won; Jones vs. Smith 6-1, 2-6, 1-0

SUBSTITUTES & RESCHEDULING OF MATCHES:
I will be keeping track for people who let me know about the rescheduling of matches so that I can let you know what courts will be available and when.

You are responsible for getting your own substitutes, if you are unable to reschedule your matches. If you are unable to find someone then please call me and I will try to assist you, but please call me as a last resort.

**If you fail to get a sub or call me - you not only forfeit the match - but also risk being unable to play in future leagues.  It is only a call or an email - please try to do the right thing.

Your opponent/partner and Sandy should be notified of the SUB's name and phone information, and also give the same information to the sub.

Should you decide to try to reschedule a match:

PERSONAL REASONS:
You will have 7 days in which to complete the rescheduled match.

WEATHER/HOLIDAY:
You will have 21 days in which to make up your match (not to exceed league dates).

If I do not have scores reported to me in that time frame - a forfeit will be placed on the HOME TEAM.

This SUB LIST is available online in the Roster section - under TEAMS.

PLEASE DO NOT leave people waiting at the court - give your best effort to contact people if you will be away.

WARM UPS:
A five minute warm up is suggested. Please be considerate of the time; be on time for your matches and try to finish on time.

My suggestion only:

Start at the net and do volleys, forehand and backhand.
Move to the baseline and do groundstrokes, forehand and backhand.
Practice a few serves from both the AD and Deuce court.
Try giveing each other a few overheads.

You aren't there to kill each other YET, so take it easy, and have some fun.

POINTS & PENALTIES:
Substitutes & Players that are Late.

Please don't try to do this yourself - just report the scores as they happened and tell me who subbed and/or if anybody was late and by how much.

2 Points will be deducted from the total points of any match in which there is a substitute for the original player (unless it is a permanent replacement). If a player is late - 2 Points will be deducted for every 5 minutes that a player is late to a match.

If after 15 minutes no player, a Forfeit will occur - but you can still play your match and report your scores if you wish to do so.
