Premier Girls Fastpitch National Qualifier

The Riptides placed THIRD at the Premier Fastpitch Qualifier in Indianapolis, IN this weekend qualifying for the Premier World Series in California!!  Defense and pitching highlighted the Riptides performance this weekend as the team turned a rare TRIPLE play!  A slow roller to pitcher Megan Garner with the bases loaded led to a quick out at the plate on a throw to catcher Dana Caldwell.  With time, Dana made a swift throw to Claire Carson covering the bag to claim the double play.  Turning to see a runner rounding third and breaking for home Claire fired back to Dana who tagged the girl out to end the inning and cap off a fantastic defensive performance!!  The pitching mound was also on fire with Ashley Sharp, Paige Thompson and Megan Garner posting a combined 1.47 ERA and .092 WHIP for the weekend!  The offense was also working with Lauren Rosenston, Alyssa Hedric, Dana Caldwell, and Kat Burbrink leading the team each batting OVER .350!!

Region 9 National Qualifier

The Riptides placed SECOND at the Elyria ASA National Qualifier last weekend earning their berth to the ASA National Tournament in Texas this summer!  It was an offensive explosion for the Riptides with most of the girls on the team hitting above .300 for the weekend and four players at or above the .500 mark!  These hitting phenoms included Alyssa Hedric, Sydney Murphy, Megan Garner, and Claire Carson!  Alyssa, Megan, Paige Thompson and Kat Burbrink also lead the team with runners in scoring position each hitting over .500 when the pressure was on!  The team matched the strong offensive performance with near perfect defense this weekend and a fielding percentage of .965!  Congrats Riptides on a great weekend!!!!

2nd Annual Metro Dayton USA/ASA Qualifier

Riptides placed FIFTH in the ASA Dayton Metro Qualifier last weekend with an overall record of 4-2.  In reaching the final rounds of bracket play the Riptides faced some tough competition, including a 10-inning international tie breaker victory over the hard-fighting Cannons on Saturday and a 9-inning international tie breaker with the Lady Laser Gold on Sunday.

At the plate, both Gracie Sprockett and Claire Carson had their first home runs of the season while Alyssa Hedric and Megan Garner each claimed the first triples for the team.  On defense, the Riptides had four double plays throughout the weekend highlighted by the defensive performances of Claire Carson and Ashley Sharp!  On the mound, Paige Thompson picked up her first two wins of the season while Megan Garner leads the team in ERA at 1.17.  Great job Riptides!!
