Ridgeview HS Boys Soccer: Ravens Futsal

The first ever Ravens Futsal league has been a great success!  We regularly have at least 20 and up to 40 players each Sunday evening joining us to improve their skills and have some fun.  (And listen to some tunes turned up high!)

We have decided to shorten the sessions from three hours to TWO.  This is for a combination of reasons.  One, we have moved away from set rosters and matches and have adopted more of a 'pick up' and 'drop in' system which is working much better and letting almost all players play at all times!  Secondly, the quality of play tends to drop in the third hour when players are getting tired and (hopefully) starting to think about that homework that is due on Monday morning!  Lastly, the Ridgeview boys players will soon be participating in our captains' P.A.S.S. sessions and that will be adding another hour to their off-season soccer schedule.

The change to two hours, 5-7pm, is effective immediately.  Also, there are two new Sundays that the Ravens Futsal league will NOT be taking place.  Those are FEBRUARY 17TH and MARCH 3RD.  They conflict with other events on Coach Bleyer's schedule.

RIDGEVIEW HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER PLAYERS OF THE PRESENT AND FUTURE:

Welcome to the first ever RAVENS FUTSAL league!

There is only one rule about RAVENS FUTSAL. Nobody talks about Ravens Futsal. Just kidding..

I meant to say that there are two goals to Ravens Futsal. (Aside from all those goals the players will be scoring...)

PLAYER DEVELOPMENT - Every boy or girl will be a more skilled soccer player by April!

HAVING FUN - We are going to enjoy ourselves and share our passion for a cool game!

Some RAVENS FUTSAL basics:

• ALL CURRENT RIDGEVIEW HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS AND OBSIDIAN MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS ARE WELCOME TO JOIN US ON ANY NIGHT WE PLAY!  (Please try to stay for at least one full hour of the two.)
• Most Ravens futsal matches will be FIVE v FIVE (at times we'll play 4v4).
• No GOALKEEPERS are used in the Ravens Futsal league.
• Each match will start at approximately TEN minutes after the hour (5:10/6:10).
• Matches will consist of TWO 25 MINUTE HALVES with a 5 minute halftime (if started on time).
• Teams will be made prior to each match by the RF Director (Keith) and will be comprised at times by splitting ages and genders and at other times randomly.
• The current Ridgeview VARSITY/JV BOYS should only sub on for each other.
• The playing area will be the BASKETBALL COURT lines and KICK-INS will be used.
• No SLIDE TACKLING will be allowed.
• Only official FUTSAL BALLS will be used.
• There will be NO REFS but at least one adult (Keith) will supervise at all times.
• The RF Director (Keith) reserves to make TEAM MODIFICATIONS and apply conditions to any match.

PLAY IN THE RAVENS FUTSAL LEAGUE THIS WINTER!  IT WILL TAKE PLACE ON SUNDAY AFTERNOONS AND EVENINGS IN THE GYM AT RIDGEVIEW HIGH SCHOOL. 

 ALL RIDGEVIEW STUDENTS, BOYS AND GIRLS, CAN JOIN IN THE FUN!  IT'S FREE!
