In Memoriam
 | | | Dover Cornett at recent Ball Game |

It is with great sadness to learn that the Richmond Little League's founding President, Dover Cornett, passed away recently. Mr. Cornett and a group of dedicated parents started Richmond Little league in 1961. The beginnings of our League were humble; playing on various fields around town, selling concessions out of the backs of cars, parents racking fields, but the seeds they sowed then have grown into one of the largest and finest youth sports programs in Central Kentucky. Mr. Cornett returned to Richmond a couple of years ago and visited the Little League Complex for the first time. Even though the facility has been there for over 20 years, he looked around in amazement and great pride, smiling widely as he reminisced about the early days and seeing what the Richmond Little League has become. His legacy lives on and we will never forget his dedication and determination.
Helmet Rules
Richmond Little League rule pertaining to colors have changed. Two-tone colors may be used as long as they come from the manufacturer that way. No stickers, decals, labels, paintwork or names (on outside ) are allowed on helmet. Only your jersey number is allowed and it can be no more than 1 1/2" in height. Helmet must meet with NOCSAE approval and the stamp must appear on the helmet. If you provide the helmet, the face mask guard is optional. All Richmond Little League provided helmets will have the face mask.
Safety Device
In an ongoing effort to provide the safest possible playing conditions, a lightning detector has been installed at the concession stand. The old method of waiting to see a lightning strike before evacuating the fields, will be replaced with this detector. The lightning detector, which is also used at the National Little League Headquarters in Williamsport, can detect a lightning strike up to 40 miles away. All new procedures will be implemented for the 2004 season. The new procedures can be downloaded from "Handouts & Info"
