Rian Ellis commits to VMI

Eric Heiligenstadt commits to Gardner Webb

Eric Heiligenstadt (Jefferson Forest '10) has committed to play at Gardner Webb.  Eric is a left hand pitcher.  Eric began his Braves stint with the National team this fall. Eric was a member of the West Coventry Commonwealth ALL-STAR team this summer.  Best of luck to Eric and GO! Bulldogs

Matt Houston (Spotsylvania '10) has committed to play for William & Mary.  Matt is a standout RHP and plays 1st Base.  He was District Player of the Year, All-Region and All State as well as being named to the Washington Post All Star Team in 2009.  Best of luck in Williamsburg and GO TRIBE!  & YAH "540"

Bill Cullen Commits to play for VCU

Bill Cullen (Thomas Dale '10) has committed to play baseball for VCU. Bill is a speedy outfielder and left hand pitcher. Bill joined the National Braves team in the fall of '08 and made an immediate impact. Best of luck to Bill at VCU and GO RAMS!!

Kevin White Commits to play for South Carolina

Kevin White (STAB '11) has committed to play baseball for South Carolina. Kevin catches and plays the outfield. Kevin is strong armed and carries a "BIG" bat. Kevin has played for the '09, '10 and '11 Braves over the past two years. Kevin will join '08 Jackie Bradley, '10 Pat Harringtion and '11 TJ Costen in Columbia. Trent Cundiff Commits to play for JMU

Trent Cundiff (Northside'10) has committed to play baseball for JMU. Trent was an original member of the Brave's National '10 team. Trent is a RHP and Corner Infielder. Trent has been a strong hitter for the Brave's National team and is expected to hit and pitch for JMU. Best of luck to Trent in Harrisonburg and GO! DUKES!!!

Patrick Harrington Commits to play for South Carolina

Patrick Harrington (Kellam'10) has committed to play baseball for South Carolina.  Patrick was an original member of the Brave's National '10 team.  Patrick will join Jackie Bradley (Braves '08) in Columbia.  Patrick has caught, played infield and outfield and pitched (in the earlier years) for the Braves. Pat is always a mainstay in the heart of the batting order.  Best of luck to Pat and GO GAMECOCKS!

Cody Cox Commits to play for Old Dominion

Austin Young Commits to play for UVa.

Austin Young (Atlee '10) has committed to play baseball for "The University of Virginia". Austin plays first base and pitches. Austin is one of the original members of the Braves '10 team.  Austin joins Mitchell Shifflett & Tyler Skulina in the '10 class as well Will Roberts and Danny Hultzen from the '08 class. Richmond Braves '10 win Cincinnati Flames Tournamemt of Champions:

With a field that is among the Who's Who of the elete 17U teams in the country the Richmond Braves '10 National Team adds another quality Tournament victory to the already well stocked shelf.  The Braves come out of pool play as the # 1 seed and go on to a semi final victory over the Lake Erie Bulldogs 14-1.  This would set up a contest between one of the premier travel programs on the West Coast NorCal Baseball and THE Premier travel team on the East Coast Richmond Braves National '10.  Despite an early lead by NorCal the Braves would battle back to take home another National Trophy 3-2.  

Tyler Skulina Commits to play for UVa.

Tyler Skulina (Walsh Jesuit '10) has committed to play baseball for "The University of Virginia". Tyler is a right hand pitcher. Tyler is currnetly the 25th ranked '10 player by Perfect Game. Tyler joins Mitchell Shifflett in the '10 class as well Will Roberts and Danny Hultzen from the '08 class. Best of luck to Tyler and GO! HOOS

Andrew Smith Commits to play for UNC

Andrew Smith (Roswell '10) has committed to play baseball for UNC.  Andrew is a right hand pitcher who joined the Braves for the WWBA National Championship in Jupiter this fall.  Andrew is currently the 46th ranked player by Perfect Game.  Best of luck to Andrew and go TarHeels!

Erickson Keeton Commits to play for VMI

Erickson Keeton (Nansemond River '09) has committed to play his college baseball for VMI. Erickson is know for his numerous "Bombs" and strong arm from the outfield. Erickson was the starting right fielder and hard throwing pitcher for the National Championship '10 team this year at East Cobb. Shane Hoggard Commits to play for Norfolk State

Shane Hoggard (Bethel '09) has committed to play his college baseball for Norfolk State.  Shane was one on the original members of the Richmond Braves National 14u team.  Shane plays first base and DH. and was a member of the 16U National Championship team.  Shane will join fellow Braves Jermaine Berry and Sammy Serafine at Norfolk State.  Good Luck Shane and go Spartins!!!!

Mitchell Shifflett Commits to play for UVa.

Mitchell Shifflett (Cosby '10) becomes the second '10 to commit as he will travel west on I-64 to play his college baseball in Charlottesville. Mitchell is a "Speedy" outfielder for the National Champion '10 Braves. Mitchell was the MVP of the WWBA 16U National Championship tournament as well being a National Team invitee for the 16U Jr. Olympic team. Best of luck to Mitchell and GO HOOS!!!

Ombri Rivers Commits to play for VMI

Ombri Rivers (Nansemond River '09) has commited to play for VMI.  Ombri was the starting short- stop and lead off batter during the national championship run by the Richmond Braves '10 team.  Ombri will follow the path well traveled by many other Braves to Lexington.  Ombri is know for his dynamic play at short.  Best of luck to the newest Keydet! 

Jake Matthews commits to play at Liberty University 

Our very own (number 45) Josh Richardson (Greenbrier Christian Academy ’09)- has verbally committed to play for the Flames. After being heavily recruited and receiving offers around the state and as far South as Geriorga, to play, Liberty won the battle. Josh also has two 2007 and 2008 VISBA state championships, A 2008 WWBA 16U championship, and a Blue/Grey Battle of the States championship rings under his belt and to add to his collection Josh was selected as the 2008 #3 top prospect in the Under Armour Team One South held in Atlanta, GA this summer. Josh a hard throwing right-handed pitcher coupled with his versatility on the field will make him a outstand asset to the Liberty team. Along with Jake Matthews, the Flames will be the big talk for the Big South Conference.

Jacob Mayers (Hanover '09) has committed to play at the University of Richmond. Mayers was one of the two remaining original members of the Braves '08 team that started in play in 1999 and played in every contest(over 400 games). A fearless competitor, Mayers was a central figure in the team's greatest triumphs. Mayers is expected to play both ways at UR. Congratulations to Jacob and go Spiders!

After forming the Braves ’10 team in the fall of 2005 it was obvious they would be a national contender.  Having finish in the top 5 in all national tournaments within their age group, the Braves ’10 put it all together at the WWBA 16U National Championship.  The Braves ’10 defeated the Jack Cust Diamond Jacks 4-3 in a come from behind victory in the bottom of the 7^th inning.  The Braves ’10 had a perfect 10-0 record for the week.  In the course of the 10 games all Braves contributed in this effort.  This is the second national championship for the Braves organization and is the first for the ’10 team.  The Braves ’10 had quite the following as many of the college coaches attended our games throughout the week.  Great Job Braves ‘10  

Mitchell Shifflett was named tournament MVP

The Richmond Braves '10 posted two extra inning victories and two mercy rule victories in pool play along their way to the # 1 seed (no small feat) for championship play.  They opened up championship play with a 10-0 victory over the South Fla. Bandits.  Thier next game was split over two days due to weather.  They posted a 6-1 victory over a very strong Columbus Explorers team from Miami.  This victory would put the Braves in the round of 8.  Next the Braves squared off against the Orlando Reds.  After both teams had a 3 run first inning they both settled down.  The Braves would have a 4-3 lead but the Reds came back to take a 6-4 lead midway through the contest.  The Braves were able to cut the lead to 6-5 in the fifth and put runners in scoring position in both the sixth and seventh innings but were unable to get the game even.  

The Braves went 7-1 while scoring 64 runs and only allowing 16.  Pitching and defense were stellar all weekend as well as timely hitting.  Special thanks to the players from the '11 Braves who all had major contributions to the effort.

Congratulations to Mitchell Shifflett who was invited to the USA Baseball Youth 16U Team Trials.  This is a huge feat considering the large number of players being considered.  Best of luck to Mitchell at the trials.
