Rolling Hills Little League: 2009 President's Letter
Sunday, January 25The spring time is just around the corner and it will be time to play ball! One of the best parts of being a kid is playing Little League baseball. Thankfully, that remains as true today as it did when I was a kid. Rolling Hills Little League is a special place where families in our community can share the joys of watching our kids grow up and play baseball together. Some of our kids are excellent baseball players but most are just normal kids having fun playing ball; and that’s what’s great about Little League! This is a time in their life where every kid gets to wear the uniform and feel like a pro.
Rolling Hills Little League is a volunteer organization that works year round to make our league the best youth sports program it can be. I cannot thank the Board of Directors enough for giving of their time and talents to make RHLL a success. Since Rolling Hills Little League is only as strong as our volunteers, I urge each and every one of you to make time in your schedule to lend a hand when asked to help out.
Baseball is a difficult sport which teaches kids, coaches and parents how to accept disappointment as well as success. These are life lessons that have a value far beyond the context of the sport. But it’s important to remember why the kids are playing- they want to have fun!
Parents, your child’s time in Little League will pass all too quickly so it’s important to see the value of the moment. 10 years down the line no one will remember who won or lost the games. What will be remembered is that special feeling of spending time with your youngster and other families in our extended neighborhood. What the kids will remember are the fun times playing ball and enjoying their friends and coaches.
I can’t wait to see you down at the field!
David Lebental
