RH Loses Last Game To Cobras, 0-6
7/29/09 - As the last game in the 2009 season approached, our Falcons seemed happy it was here. After a difficult season, players seemed ready to put an end to this chapter of their soccer history. This Greece team was also entering their last game with all wins except for one loss and one tie. They were in first place no matter the outcome of this game. RH was able to stay with the Cobras for the first 20 minutes, keeping them outside and a body on them as they attempted shots. But Greece would not be contained and in the 22nd minute they scored. And shortly before the half ended, in the 27th minute, they scored again. With a 2-0 lead, the Cobras settled into a comfortable passing strategy that whenever pressured dropped the ball back and blasted it forward. Still RH tried their best and held them for 7 minutes but then the flood gates opened. Greece would score in the 7th, 9th, 10th and 13th minutes until the Falcons could regroup. In a 0-6 deficit, RH had had enough and would allow no more goals but also could not score. Our team played well but was no match for the first place Cobras. Final score, RH 0, Greece Cobras 6.

Falcons vs. Eclipse Rained Out
7/24/09 - The much anticipated rematch between RH and the Greece Eclipse was not to be. After mustering enough players to play with one substitute, the Falcons arrived in Greece ready and willing to play but 30 minutes before the game was scheduled to begin, the first roars of thunder began. And as the minutes passed, the thunder and lightening continued until finally the game was cancelled. The game is not resceduled at this time.

RH Chills Chili, 1-0
7/22/09 - After a heartbreaking 1-4 lose to Chili in their second game of the season, the Falcons were raring to go tonight. With injuries and absences, RH started the game with only one substite and only gained one more shortly after play began. But unlike other games, the Falcons started hot and stayed hot. Chili's usual deep ball attack was thwarted time and again by RH's movement to the ball. Both teams moved the ball down the field in the first half but any shot attempts by the Cheetahs were nullified by the Falcons defense and Goalie Sam Brill. The first half came to an end with a 0-0 tie. As the second half started, both teams seemed to have fatigue on their faces but not in their bodies. Dana Watts kept the Chili defense back with several breakaway runs but her shots missed their mark until the 42nd minute when she took a ball to the right corner and crossed to Taylor VanCheri who finished slamming the ball home for a goal. This only served to fire up both teams. Chili sensed time running out and the Falcons wanted more. With 10 minutes left, the Cheetahs goalie dived to save a shot and was injured. Then with three minutes left RH's Noelle Davis took a shot to the face and went down. She stayed in and as regulation time expired it was evident that this referee had stoppage time left to play. The Falcon's played tough defense and survived some unlucky bounces to kill the clock and come away with their second win of the season.

Falcons Burned By Blazers, 0-4
7/15/09 - Not being at this game I can only report a 4-0 win by the Spencerport Blazers over the RH Falcons.

Friday, July 10
Falcons Loose To Livonia Under The Lights, 0-1
7/10/09 - At their first meeting, RH pulled out a 1-0 win over Livonia. Tonights game was later and in Livonia under the lights. Things seemed to be pretty even until the 24 th minute when Livonia would score on a corner kick. Down 0-1, The Falcons came out strong in the second half and pressured Livonia with several breakaways by Dana Watts but could not score. Final score: Livonia 1, RH 0.

RH Battles But Comes Up Short vs. Penfield, 0-1
7/8/09 - After tieing Penfield in their first game, fans were looking forward to a tough rematch. Penfield came out hot taking the opening kickoff straight at the Falcons and barely missing a goal in the opening seconds of the game. But RH didn't respond well and in the 2nd minute the Strikers scored to take a 1-0 lead. The Falcons slowly came alive and by the end of the second half had matched the Avalanche's intensity. The game was very physical with elbows flying from the Penfield players but RH kept battling. Although the Falcons had some opportunities to score late in the second half they weren't able to capitalize on them. Final score: Penfield 1, RH 0.

Falcons Get First Win Of The Season Against Livonia, 1-0
6/24/09 - The Livonia Orange Crush finished just under the Rush-Henrietta Falcons last year. In two meetings the Falcons won one game and lost the other. Fans knew that this was a team that was playing at the same level as RH. Although Livonia had possesion of the ball more than the Falcons they were not able to score. In the 48th minute, RH worked the ball up the field and found Alexandra Robbins-Johnson waiting. She turned on the ball and fired an arching shot from 25 yards out that caught the Livonia goalie out of position and sailed into the far side of the goal giving the Falcons a 1-0 lead. The Orange Crush would fight hard in the remaining minutes firing shots that hit the crossbar, sailed over the goal or just wide. Goalkeeper Danielle Delooze saved many shots to keep RH in front. Final score: RH 1, Livonia 0.

RH Suffers Hard Loss Against #1 Cobras, 0-8
6/17/09 - I was not at this game so I only have what I heard to report. The Falcons were scored on early but for most of the first half they held their own until late in the half when they were scored on twice. With a 3-0 lead, the Cobras were in the drivers seat and would score 5 more goals in the second half. Final score: Greece 8, RH 0.

Monday, June 15
Falcons Shutout By Blazers, 0-3
6/15/09 - RH has played Sencerport for as long as I can remember. The Blazers are a fast passing, physical team that makes you pay if you aren't ready. They came out fast and scored their first goal in the 3rd minute before the Falcons could wakeup. With that, RH bounced back and while the ball was squrely in the Falcons end most of the time, they held their own until the 29th minute when Spencerport scored again. Down 0-2, RH came out strong in the second half but just didn't have enough to penetrate the Blazers defenses. Spencerport would score once more in the 52nd minute to shutout the Falcons. Final score: Spencerport 3, RH 0.

Wednesday, June 10
Falcons Fall Short Against Eclipse, Lose 1-2
6/10/09 - The Greece Eclipse is the second Greece club to have a team in division 1. After being beaten by Chili, the Falcons were ready to get back on track. As play started, it was apparent that the Eclipse was the better team but that RH was not going to just rollover. Goalie, Danielle Delooze, foiled Greece's scoring attempts leaving the halftime score, 0-0. But in the 38th minute the Eclipse penetrated the Falcon defense with a deep kick that was outrun by Greece and put in the goal. Six minutes later, in the 14th minute, they would score again to take a 2-0 lead. With four minutes left the Falcons were pressing when a ball popped out to the center and Sam Brill blasted a high arching shot that sailed over the hands of the Eclipse goalie. But there was not enough time for a second goal and RH would fall just short of a tie. Final score RH 1, Greece 2.

RH loses to Chili 1-4

6/3/09 - After last week's challenging game against the Penfield Strikers Avalanche, we were all looking forward to tonight's game against the Chili Cheeteahs. Both players and parents knew that this would be the first real test of our girls. The Cheetahs were Division 1 last year and finished in third place. Throughout the entire game our Falcons controled the ball longer than Chili and had more scoring opportunities. Unfortunately for RH, the Cheetahs took advantage of the opportunities that they had. The Falcons scored first in the 12th minute on a corner kick from Taylor VanCheri that was controlled by Sam Brill who passed it accross to Danna Watts who scored giving the Falcons a 1-0 lead. This lead was short lived as seconds later the Cheetahs took the kick off down the left side and scored on our unprepared Falcons. Chili would score once more in the first half on a miscomunication between defense and goalie in the 28th minute. As the second half started, RH tried very hard to score, having shots go wide or hit the crossbar but couldn't seem to find the goal. Meanwhile, Chili used their speedy forwards to take the ball down the side and cross the ball to the middle for two additional goals in the 42nd and 51st minutes winning the game 4-1.

Falcons First Game ends in 0-0 Tie vs. Penfield

5/27/09 - As the season begins, our Falcons find themselves in Division 1. Moved up from Division 2 with them were the Livonia Orange Crush and the Penfield Strikers Avalanche. Many (if not all of you) will remember the Penfield Strikers. A physical and aggressive team with plenty of tricks. As the game began, it was apparent that our girls did not forget last years games either. RH was fast to the ball and had more scoring opportunities than the Avalanche. Fortunately and unfortunately, both teams were better on defense than they were on offense and the game ended in a 0-0 tie. Not bad for a first showing in Division 1.

Player of the Game: Noelle Davis

Falcons Face U12 Empire United
4/5/09 - After performing admirably against the U11 Empire United girls it was time for our Falcons to face their age appropriate Empire United counterparts. RH had their full compliment of players except for their goalie, Danielle Delooze. Filling in for the first half was Noelle Davis. RH had the upper hand for the first 10 minutes but then Empire United scored. They would score again 8 minutes later and then again 4 minutes after that ending the first half with a 3-0 lead over the Falcons. As the second half started, the Falcons changed goalies and put MaryAnn Yandle in. The Empire United girls were still fired up and wasted little time increasing their lead. They would score in the 37nd minute and the 38th minute before RH would be able to score. But they did score. In the 47th minute Taylor VanCheri took a direct kick from a handball and ended the shutout. But the Empire United girls weren't done and just a minute later in the 48th minute they scored again. After that, RH came to life and Leanna Donsky took a pass from Reilly Smyth and popped a ball just over the Empire United goalies outstretched hands in the 49th minute. With time running out, Dana Watts would score another goal for the Falcons in the 53rd minute. Final score - Empire United 6, Rush-Henrietta 3. (Special thanks to my wife for the game report)

Livonia Ruins RH's Playoff Hopes

3/27/09 - This was the Falcons last game of the Winter League at TSE. They were in fifth place with an outside chance of making the playoffs. In fourth place was the Gates Metros who had to face the Third place Greece Bucs Red who had not lost a game. RH's opponents, the Livonia Orange Crush, were in second place behind the undefeated Spencerport Blazers. Both Spencerport and Livonia are in Division 1. As the game started, it was clear that our Falcons were not ready. In the 5th minute, Livonia penetrated our defenses and scored their first goal. This seemed to spark RH and two minutes later, Taylor VanCheri passed the ball ahead to MaryAnn Yandle who, with a defender close behind, stayed focused and blasted a shot to the far post to even the game. Momentum was on our side now. The Falcons had found some passion and made some moves to take control of this game. But Livonia did not roll over. Instead they squelched thr RH attacks and set up their own. In the 16th minute they would score again. Only one goal down, our Falcons tried to mount an attack but were turn away and with two minutes left in the first half saw the Orange Crush score again. First half score 1-3 in favor of Livonia. The second half was well fought but frustration had settled into our Falcons as they played "kick and run" with Livonia. No additional goals were scored.

(After Note: The Gates Metros beat the Greece Bucs Red 5-2, handing them their first loss and securing fourth place)

Falcons Squeak Past RFC
3/20/09 - After an impressive showing against the Empire United U11 Girls team, fans were looking forward to RH's game against a smaller RFC U11 team. RFC came out strong and although their players were no match for the Falcons size, they made up for it in determination and skill. RH seemed to have their hands full with RFC's quick and speedy forwards. And although our Falcons made nice upfield passes time and time again, there was no one there to receive the pass. The first half ended with no score and frustration on both sides. 9 minutes into the second half, Dana Watts decided to take matters into her own hands. After receiving a pass at midfield, she confronted two defenders and beat them to push the ball upfield and score the only goal of the game. With time running out, RFC desperately attempted to score to at least tie the game. They grew more and more aggressive but to no avail. RH's defense held and our Falcons came away with the win.

Falcons scrimmage Empire United
3/15/09 - In a friendly scrimmage against the U11 Empire United squad our Falcons showed some of the best aggressiveness and attack on the ball I have seen in a long time. Before the game started, it was evident that the Empire United girls had ball skills. Unfortunately for them, they never got a chance to use them. From the very start of the game, the RH girls attacked everything in sight. As their opponents tried to string passes together, the Falcons covered the ball and any passing lanes leaving no room for the Empire girls to get anything started. The ball remained in the United end of the field the entire first half. In the 21st minute, Tori Brocht threw the ball to a waiting Heather Billings who crossed the ball in front of the goal where Julie Dana ran forward and chested the ball into the Empire goal. First half score, 1-0 in favor of our Falcons. At the start of the second half, RH came out with a new look. They played five girls on the offensive line with two backs and a sweeper. With this offensive assult it didn't take long for scoring opportunities to unfold. In the 5th minute, MaryAnn Yandle took advantage of the Empires struggling goalie and attacked a poorly thrown ball, running up to intercept it and pounding it back at her scoring the Falcons second goal. Two minutes later MaryAnn would help out her teammates by sending the ball ahead to Heather Billings who crossed it to Alexandra Robbins-Jackson who would score. It was late in the second half before the United girls penetrated our offense and brought the ball upfield into our territory. After a couple of failed attempts, the Empire United girls finally scored on a bouncing shot that was deflected by our defense causing it to bounce out of the reach of our Goalie. This game was a joy to watch as our girls played hard and fast. Play every game like that and our season will be a good one!!

RH Charms the Cobras
3/13/09 - Friday the 13th is supposed to be unlucky. The question was just who would be unlucky in the Falcons game against the Greece Cobras. At the start of the game it was easy to see that RH had a size advantage over the Greece players but the Cobras were able to make some good passes that kept the Falcons on their toes. Greece was more aggressively attacking the ball and out hustling our RH players but our defense wouldn't allow anyone in white and black near the goal. Both teams seemed to be struggling until the 19th minute when Taylor VanCheri broke up the middle drawing two defenders to her. As they approached, Taylor passed the ball to MaryAnn Yandle who was moving up on the right. MaryAnn wasted no time as she sprinted toward the goal and shot the ball past the Cobra goalkeeper. Five minutes later Greece would score on a wildly bouncing ball that grazed over the shoulder of RH's goalkeeper Danielle Delooze. The halftime score was 1-1. The second half was more of the same until the 9th minute when Victoria Neighbour passed the ball to Tori Brocht. Tori, seeing defenders ahead, passed the ball backwards to Taylor Stewart who blasted the ball from behind the midfield line and sent a sailing shot that carried over the outstretched arms of the Cobras goalie scoring her a birthday goal. As Greece tried desperately to tie the game up, Danielle Delooze came forward to block an almost sure goal with her shins and foiled any chance the Cobras had. With time running out MaryAnn Yandle sent a long corner kick to a waiting Leanna Donsky who sidekicked the ball back to the middle where Alexandra Robbins-Jackson popped the ball in to cap off a 3-1 victory for our Falcons.

Falcons Find Storm A Breeze, Win 8-0
3/6/09 - For the second time this Winter season the Falcons took on the Greece Storm.  The Storm is a Select team, an all-star team from the Greece in-house league that has been taking their lumps from Travel teams.  The first time these teams met it was a 10-0 romp for the Falcons; perhaps remembering that the Falcons came out a little flat.  After last week’s intense, draining battle with Spencerport an easier match would be welcome!  The Storm held the Falcons at bay initially but in the 5th minute Leanna Donsky tucked a sharp cross from Taylor VanCheri into the back of the net for a 1-0 lead.  The Storm has grown in their winter trial by fire; they held off several scoring opportunities by the Falcons over the next 14 minutes and even managed a handful of shots on goal.  Then, like a boxer grown tired of a pesky opponent the Falcons unleashed a flurry: Reilly Smyth scored off a Mary Ann Yandle feed at the 19th minute, 90 seconds later Julie Dana scooted one in left-footed off a Taylor VanCheri pass, and with little more than a minute left in the half Julie scored again off a volley in front of the goal.  The second half scoring for our girls began 3 minutes in with Leanna getting her second of the night off a Danielle DeLooze pass; she got the hat trick in the 32nd minute following a booming clear from Taylor Stewart.   The next 11 minutes were quiet, then another flurry in the 42nd minute: Julie got her own hat trick following a Mary Ann shot, and just a few seconds later Taylor VanCheri stole the ball, powered right up the middle of the field and thundered a blast past the Storm’s beleaguered goalie!  That was the end of the scoring, 8-0.  The Falcons got some work in, played tough defense, and had a couple of scoring bursts to weather the Storm.  Next Friday: U-11 Cobras at 8PM.

Falcons vs. Blazers

2/27/09 - The Falcons prepared for their first match since being named to the RDYSL First Division, and as the fates so often have it, that match would be against the undisputed Queen of the GU-12 Jungle, the powerful Spencerport Blazers.  Our girls played the Blazers tough in their initial winter league match up, losing 3-1 after being tied at the half.  That game found Spencerport at less than full strength; four of their best players were at an out-of-town tournament with Empire USA.  Tonight; their best were taking the field.

The match started out as a back-and-forth affair; the ball being boomed in and out by strong legged defenders.  In the fourth minute Taylor Stewart blasted a kick away from our goal and towards a lightly defended Mary Ann Yandle, who picked the rock up on the run, shook free of the defender, and slammed a shot past the Spencerport goalie.  1-0, RH.  Maybe their first lead ever against this team!   The Blazers tried to even the score but stout defense and goalkeeping kept them off the board.   The teams battled on even terms until the 17th minute when Alex Robbins-Jackson worked the ball through to Heather Billings, who turned and hit the far side of the goal.  2-0, RH; the Spencerport crowd was murmuring nervously.  The RH parents were beginning to ask each other “Can this be happening?”  The Blazers settled everyone down just two minutes later when #29 got the ball in front of the goal towards the right and buried a shot in the left corner past a diving goalie.  Spencerport squeezed tighter over the last 6 minutes of the half but were repeatedly frustrated by Taylor, Riley, Danielle and the rest of the RH defense.  RH had a free kick granted with just a few seconds left but couldn’t get a shot off…that missed opportunity would later come back to haunt them.  The half ended 2-1 in favor of the good girls.

The RH crowd went wild in the 27th minute as the ball popped out of a group in front of the Spencerport goal towards Alex and a defender.  Together they charged up the left side; the keeper came out to meet them, dived for the ball and missed; Alex muscled through her defender and scored, 3-1 RH!  The crowd was nervous; one set of parents afraid their team might lose, another daring to hope theirs might win.  The Spencerport coach exhorted his team for the next 10 minutes but to no avail as RH grimly turned away assault after assault on their goal until in the 38th minute #29 did it again, weaving thru traffic with the ball and crossing a shot into the net.  RH still led, 3-2, but you could see our girls getting tired.  From that point on the Falcons were almost always on defense without another real scoring chance.  In the 43rd minute Spencerport scored off a corner kick and it was a new match!  A very tense scoreless six minutes followed but unfortunately for RH, with a minute left, the Blazers worked the ball down the sideline, and had it kicked out by RH for a corner.  The corner was drilled in, Danielle blocked the shot…but the follow up went past her as Spencerport took the lead with just seconds to play.  RH tried valiantly to get a shot off afterwards but quickly ran out of time and lost, 4-3.  But hey, if you ask me, the RH girls were the big winners tonight.  They went toe-to-toe with the baddest team around and scared the heck out of ‘em.  Makes you feel a bit better about Division 1…GREAT JOB, FALCONS!

RH vs. V/F - Rematch on the BIG field
2/22/09 - Less than one week ago, these two teams faced off in an indoor arena that left both teams wanting more. The Falcons came away with the victory but could they contend with the Blue Lightnings numbers on a full sized field? Well folks, the proof is in the pudding. Or in this case, the playing. RH had just enough girls to field a team at 11 v 11 while V/F had a full compliment of subs. The Falcon girls knew this from the start but that didn't stop them from giving everything they had. Both teams battled hard the entire game. I saw aggressive attacks, ball movement, headers, great saves, teamwork and most importantly determination. The first half was thirty minutes of fun to watch soccer. After a short halftime break, these two teams were back at it. Trading momentum but neither team breaking until 10 minutes into the second half. Heather Billings took a throw-in and placed it over the heads of the Blue Lightning defenders to where Taylor VanCheri was waiting. With one move Taylor crossed the ball in front of the V/F goal where Leanna Donsky was posed and ready to pounce. Leanna pounded the ball into the goal to give RH a 1-0 win. Congratulations Falcons. That was some of the best soccer I have seen from this team. Way to go!!

Falcons scrimmage Blue Lightening at Sports Garden
2/13/09 - RH was invited to scrimmage the Victor/Farmington Blue Lightning at the Sports Garden Indoor Facility. This indoor field differs from the TSE indoor field that the girls have been playing on by having hockey style walls thus keeping play going by having no out of bounds. The Falcons got things rolling in the 4th minute when Heather Billings stormed through to score. Taylor VanCheri followed Heather with a goal in the 11th minute. After that V/F settled down add penetrated RH's defenses in the 17th and 25th minutes to tie things up. It was obvious that neither team was willing to give up without a fight. Five minutes into the second half the Blue Lightning would score to take the lead. They would not lead for long. Taylor VanCheri scored in the 37th minute to tie the score once more. The teams battled on with neither team breaking. The Falcon goalie, Danielle Delooze, would take the wind out of V/F sails time and again with some brilliant saves. In the 44th minute, Dana Watts took the ball downfield and passed to a waiting Sam Brill to give the Falcons back the lead. Sam Brill would score again, this time all by herself, in the 53rd minute when she broke away from the pack and rushed the Blue Lightning goalie. Up by 2 goals, RH continued to thwart V/F's attempts until the 62nd minute. The game was then called to an end by one of the Blue Lightning coaches who was acting as referee with the Falcons up 5-4.

RH needs Guest Players against Gates
2/6/09 - Due to Valentine's Dances at both Burger and Roth Middle Schools, the Falcons needed guest players in order to not forfiet their 3rd game of the Winter League at TSE against the Gates Metros. The U12 girls were represented by Sam Brill, Alexandra Robbins-Jackson and MaryAnn Yandle. Guest players were Sydney Nielson, Breanna Ratliff and a friend, and Morgan Johnson (who arrived in the 2nd half to give us 7 girls). Even with this help, RH lost 3-4.

Friday, January 30
Falcons survive the Heat
1/30/09 - After a tough loss the week before, RH was pitted against the Hilton Heat. The Falcons came out fast with some early shots and some nice teamwork. In the 9th minute, RH was awarded a direct kick due to a Hilton handball and Dana Watts pounded the ball through to put the Falcons up 1-0. With constant pressure, RH kept on trying and in the 15th minute Alexandra Robbins-Jackson scored off a corner kick by Julie Dana that bounced around in front of the Heats goal. Falcons lead 2-0. Hiltons didn't have many scoring opportunities but they made the most of them. In the 16th minute they would take the ball deep into Falcon territory and score. Shortly after this, RH's goalie, Danielle Deloose, came out of the game with stomach problems. She was replaced by Noelle Davis. As play resumed the Heat would again score in the 20th minute. At halftime the score was 2-2. The secondhalf started and neither team was willing to give up a goal. Although RH had chances to score, none of their shots found the goal until the 38th minute when Taylor VanCheri flew a ball past Hilton's goalie to regain the lead for the Falcons. Just three minutes later, Tori Brocht would send a hard shot toward the Heat's goal only to have it deflected back by a Hilton defender but Julie Dana was there to clean-up and score in the 41st minute. With a 4-2 lead and only 9 minutes to go, RH's defense played tight around the goal only to be scored on by a high booming shot from the Heat at midfield in the 43rd minute and again in the 44th minute. With the score tied at 4-4, the battle raged with neither team letting up but RH worked the ball down the field and was rewarded with a cornerkick. Sam Brill place a high ball close to the goal that the Hilton goalie reached up to grab but deflected into the goal with 3 minutes left to play. The Falcons were able to defend their 5-4 lead and secure the win. This was the best game I have seen these girls play in a long time. Nice job and keep it up!!!

RH loses opener to Bucs, 2-3
1/23/09 - Coach Kurt signed the Falcons up for the Winter session of TSE's Soccer League due to the lack of available playing space. This league has 8 games scheduled. In their first game they faces the Greece Bucs Red team. The Bucs were a team of big defensive players, fast offensive players and a loud cheering section. The game was back and forth until the 15th minute when Taylor VanCheri scored giving RH the early lead. The lead was short lived because in the 16th minute Greece would score to tie the game. With time running out in the 25th minute, Destinee Johnson pushed a ball ahead to Leanna Donsky who charged ahead to score and take the lead back for the Falcons. The Bucs came out on fire in the second half and in the 28th minute scored to once again tie the game. After that it was a back and forth game until the 46th minute when a Greece offensive player brought the ball down the leftside and continually challenged and won against the RH defense and at the last moment slid the ball in front of the goal to an unchallenged teammate who scored to give the Bucs the win.

Falcons face Livonia in last game
1/16/09 - In RH's last game of the Fall Friday League they were up against a depleted Livonia team. The majority of Livonia's players were at a school dance (the first in many years for 7th graders) leaving their team with only 7 players. So no subtitutes for the Crush. RH scored three times in the first half. Destinee Johnson scored in the 6th minute off an assist by Taylor VanCheri, MaryAnn Yandle scored off an assist by Sam Brill in the 18th minute and Taylor VanCheri scored with only 2 minutes left in the first half. Although RH kept the Livonia goalkeeper busy with plenty of shots on goal, some just missing and bouncing off the goal, the Falcons were unable to add to their first half total. Livonia would also score three goals in the game, making it a 3-3 tie.

Friday, January 9
RH vs. RFC U11 Girls
1/9/09 - In a David and Goliath game, the falcons played a much smaller RFC team. Though the RFC girls were small, they came out and never showed any fear of our girls. Instead they played as if they were bigger than the RH girls. They attacked every ball and out passed the Falcons. They came right out and scored in the 2nd minute of the first half and again in the 12th minute. Alexandra Robbins-Jackson scored in the 23rd minute to keep the Falcons hopes alive. As the second half started, RFC showed no signs of slowing down. RH struggled against a more aggressive RFC team and in the 38th minute RFC scored again. The Falcons tried to mount a last minute comeback but it was too late. RFC won 3-1.

Falcons battle the Cobras
1/2/09 - The Falcons were due to face the Greece Cobras when the snow storm hit in December. That game was canceled and reschedualed for Jan. 2nd. RH came out with passion, keeping the Cobras pinned in their end. In the 8th minute, Julie Dana placed a corner kick in front of the Greece goal where in bounced around until Tori Brocht placed a shot to the left side of the goal and scored. The battle continued with no scoring until just before the end of the first half. In the 24th minute, Taylor VanCheri place another corner kick right along the end line and Julie Dana rushed ahead to deflect it into the goal with her body. In the second half the Cobras came alive with some nice passing. They penitrated into RH territory time and again only to be turned away by the Falcons defense. Finally, in the 40th minute, Greece did score but that would be their only goal. RH held them off for a 2-1 win.

Friday, December 12
RH faces Pittsforld
12/12/08 - In the Falcons third game in their Indoor League Series at TSE they faced the Pittsford Mustangs-Rockets. With an impressive win the week before, RH was ready to get on the field and play some soccer. Pittsford's offense came out strong but the Falcon's defense was up to the task with the return of our starting goalie, Danielle Delooze. RH's offense scored first in the 8th minutes when MaryAnn Yandle passed the ball to Destinee Johnson who wasted no time scoring. The Rockets goalie handled the Falcon's offense until the 20th minute when she made the mistake of kicking her own goal kick. The kick went straight to a waiting MaryAnn Yandle who controlled the ball, moved in and with a defender on either side placed the ball in the far left side of the goal just out of the goalie's reach. The second half started with Pittsford putting their bigger girls on defense and clearing anything that got near their goal. With RH playing up, the Mustang's were able to get a high bouncing ball deep in our end and when the ball bounced around in front of our goal a Pittsford player made contact and scored in the 32nd minute. After that, the Falcon's defense solidified and in the 41st minute Sam Brill cleared a ball to the outside right where she took the ball up field and passed the ball to MaryAnn Yandle. MaryAnn made a beautiful shuffle pass that caught Tori Brocht in full stride. Tori bolted ahead of the Rocket's defense and scored. Final score 3-1 Falcons.

Falcons conquer the Storm

12/5/08 - The Greece Storm was humbled on Friday night.  Missing 3 girls from our Starting team, the Rush Henrietta girls played control soccer from the opening whistle.  Our team played dominating soccer to an over matched Storm team that was smaller and slower. The RH girls moved and passed the ball continually with some brilliant passing combinations, and a barrage of shots that did not end until the final whistle. Outstanding lay off passing and through balls confounded the Stormers, spreading the field wide and then consolidating to the inside with crossing passes that found their mark time and again.  Our starting keeper was out ill, so was our backup, and noticeably absent was  play making Tori, absent as well.  Filling in the goal duties were Julie Dana, and Dana Watts each playing inspired soccer and doing a fine job in goal.  Players were moved from offense to defense, and the girls responded surprising well.  A stand out on offense and defense was Reilly.  She made exceptional passes, had some outstanding shots on goal and playing center full back stopped any attack that may have come her way.  Another really nice surprise came with the addition of Victoria to our offensive line.  Her uncanny knack for putting the ball in the back of the goal, netted her the first hat trick we can remember in quite some time. She just might have found her way to the front this season.   Seven girls accounted for a total of ten goals, with some other shots that hit the post and some nice saves from the storm keeper. Not much she could do on a night like Friday. The final score was 10-0. (Goals scored: at 3:02 by Victoria Neighbour (assist by Taylor VanCheri), at 5:30 by Taylor VanCheri, at 16:00 Dana Watts, at 18:30 Danna Watts (assisted by Alexandra Robbins-Jackson and Leanna Donsky), at 22:45 Destinee Johnson (assist by Heather Billings), at 29:00 Taylor VanCheri (off a corner kick by Noelle Davis), at 33:40 Victoria Neighbour (assist by Noelle Davis), at 34:30 Victoria Neighbour, at 42:00 Alexandra Robbins-Jackson and at 48:00 Heather Billings).

Falcons start Friday Night League
11/21/08 - In the Falcons first Friday night game of the Winter League at TSE, RH faced off against the Spencerport Blaze. Our girls played on a half-fullsized field in a 7 v 7 format. This is a very fast paced, aggressive style that really will challange our players "tight quarters" play. The first half was well played by both teams. Neither team could get a hard shot off until Taylor VanCheri scored with 2 minutes left in the first half. But with seconds left in the half, Spencerport scored off a beautifully placed corner kick that was deflected in to tie the game. Spencerport got its rhythm in the second half and scored in the 27th and 35th minute. The final score was 3-1 in favor of Spencerport.

RH scrimmages Chili
On Sunday, November 2nd, our RH girls went head-to-head with the Division 1 Chili team. Our Falcons played tough from the beginning, taking the ball down field but couldn't get a goal. The RH defense did it's job turning away Chili's attacks time and time again. At halftime, with two 20 minute quarters done the score was 0-0. As the third quarter was closing down, Chili scored in the 57th minute. As the 4th quarter wore on, the Falcons had lost some of their aggressiveness and in the 75th minute Chili scored again making the final score 0-2. This was a long game against a Division 1 team and our RH girls had a good showing for this early in the year. Keep your chins up Falcons and we'll get them next time.

Falcons scrimmage Irondequoit
On Saturday, October 18th, the RH girls scrimmaged Irondequoit. The game started with a bang as the Falcons took the ball down the field penetrating their opponents defenses and when the ball popped out to centerfield Taylor VanCheri was there to send a long ball scoring in the first minute. After that there were no scores in the first half but RH had the ball in Irondequoit's end most of the time. The Falcons came out fired-up for the second half and in the 36th minute the RH offense kept constant pressure in the box causing the ball to "ping-pong around and Dana Watts slammed one in for the Falcons second goal. Three minutes later, Sam Brill scored on a cross from Reilly Smyth to make the score 3-0. With time running out in regulation, Julie Dana passed the ball to Reilly Smyth who shot and the ball was deflected into the goal by an Irondequoit player. With only stoppage time left the Irondequoit team finally scored in the 62nd minute to make it a 4-1 game.
