Revolution Starts ISL Season Strong with Back to Back Victories

Saturday April 12th will be a day long remembered by Revolution parents for one thing in particular.  It was the second year in a row that opening day was extrememly cold and wet.  However, the adverse conditions didn't affect the Revolution themselves.  The guys, fought through the weather to win an extremely competitive first game against last year's Challenge Cup Champions, Dynamo Katner 92.  The first goal was from 30 yards out and over the keeper's head by Erik Ratzburg, followed up by another goal from Dave DeCara.  Dynamo followed up in the second half with a goal of their own.  After a hard collision between Kasey and a Dynamo player, Kasey followed it up with some "Sports Center" quality saves, and clinched the game for the Revolution.  Final score: Revolution 2, Dynamo 1.

After lunch, they returned to a muddy field, to face Center Grove.  Center Grove played them to a 0 to 0 tie at the end of last year's St. Francis Siege, so the guys definately had their work cut out for them.  Center Grove struck first with a goal in the first 2 minutes.  The Revolution followed up with a goal by Jason Walcutt shortly after to balance the game back to even.  Center Grove wouldn't have it though, because they soon struck again, with yet another goal.  But Dave DeCara wouldn't be kept down, he scored his second goal of the day.  With the game tied up 2 to 2, Karl Rast struck with the go-ahead goal.  This was followed up by goals from Jerico Sanders and yet another from Dave DeCara.  Center Grove would recover toward the end with another goal, but it wasn't enough and the Revolution scored thier second victory of the day.  Final Score: Revolution: 5, Center Grove 3.

Revolution finishes as Runner-up at Middletown Spring Blast

The Revolution played a great tournament March 29th and 30th in Middletown, OH.  The tournament began with a 3-0 win over Thunder United Metro Premier.  The success then followed the Revolution to the afternoon game against the Celtic 92 White team from Michigan.  These two victories clinched a spot in the championship game for us, because of Sunday morning's opponent having two tie games on Saturday.

Sunday morning began as overcast as we played our scheduled game against a great club in the Warriors 91, who bested us 0-2, though the game had no bearing on the championship at this point.

The Final game was a hard fought battle against another Indiana team, Hoosier FC Orange.  We fell short at the end (0-1) but played a hard fought game and came away as the Tournament Runner-up.  Hopefully we'll meet Hoosier FC Orange again this year in a friendly or another tournament.  Great job everyone.
