2010 Summer Team Tryout Letter

Dear Lacrosse Enthusiast,

Hello, we are the RENEGADES. The Renegades are a non-profit, post-season, middle and high school club lacrosse organization. The 2010 summer will be our 7th season showcasing area lacrosse players. Our teams will participate in summer and fall tournaments throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. Like last summer, the Renegades could fill up to (9) teams for; u11, u12, u13, u15, u16, u18 and Post Grad. We exist to supplement your high school or recreation team, not replace or interfere with them. All of our activities will be held pre or post High School/MYLA season.

Our tryouts are open to anyone that wishes to participate, no matter your school or recreation affiliation. While some guys may have been directly invited because they're a returnee or possibly have been noticed during a game, all are welcome to attend.  If you believe that you are one of the area's finest lacrosse players, you’re invited to participate in a competitive try-out for the opportunity to become a club member. Each team plans to hold at leaset two try-outs. Refer to our website for field directions, try-out dates and times for each age group.  FYI - Tryouts have been set for November 29th, December 6th and December 13th at the Fallston Recreation Complex, on the new TURF field. (see home page for complex address)

All of the club’s coaches possess extensive coaching and playing experience. At a minimum; all have played at the college level, and eight of our coaches are former High School head coaches. Most other staff members have been, or are currently high school assistants. In addition to several assistants, each team will also offer position coaches. The position coaches are some of today’s top D1, D2 and D3 college players, and because of our 4 to 1 coach to player ratio, you can be certain your son will get the attention he deserves.

The goals of the Renegade club are simple:

1. Offer your son the opportunity to improve and develop by providing quality play opportunities in competitive games during summer and fall tournaments.

2. Prepare your son for next level of play.

3. Provide a knowledgeable and committed staff with both positive & competitive attitudes.

4. Provide an up-to-date quality team website with helpful resource information, plus individual player photos, bios and statistics.

5. When age appropriate; we will provide your son visibility to college coaches. In addition, we’ll offer assistance through the lengthy recruiting process. The older teams will focus on recruiting tournaments and camps held during June, July, and November.

6. Maintain an affordable cost.

Fees for each group will vary. (depends on number of tournaments and/or equipment required) However, most families can expect costs to be approximately $550 for each participant. Fees include; tournament fees, referee fees, team helmet, game reversible, game shorts, UA heat gear, team supplies, field rental and pick-up game fees. Although at first glance this may seem like a lot of money, it’s actually a fraction of the cost of every other club team of its type in the Baltimore area. Note: Fees for the two oldest teams could be higher due to their participation in team recruiting camps. Fees will be lower for the youngest teams because of their reduced tourney schedule)

The Renegades staff does understand that just about every family will have some type of scheduling conflict along the way, (vacations, lax camps, school functions, etc.) that’s understandable. However, prospective players should be aware; this should not be considered a casual commitment. If selected, the team will require practice time, lots of effort, some travel and a passion for the game. Only committed and mature players should apply.

The summer promises to be very exciting, so be certain to mark your calendars and plan to attend our tryouts. Please visit www.renegadeslacrosse.com and follow the easy registration steps. While on the website, take some time to browse through the team info links for specific age group info and tournament dates, college info, financial aid info, etc.

The Renegades would like to wish you the best of luck on your upcoming season and hope you have terrific spring! If you have any questions or would like to discuss this opportunity any further, please do not hesitate to call or email. Thank you for taking the time to review this information and our website.  Good luck during tryouts!
