Renegades Cap 2009 Season with Cooperstown Baseball World 15U Championship

Virginia Renegades win 15-and-under championship
The Virginia Renegades 15U baseball team capped their season last weekend by winning the Cooperstown Baseball World 15U Championship in Cooperstown, N.Y. The Renegades beat the San Francisco Fog, 3-0, behind a complete game, two-hit shutout by pitcher Nick Beaulac. The Renegades scored three runs in the first inning and shut out the Fog with steady defense. To win the championship, the Renegades beat teams from the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Canada, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania and California.

The victory in Cooperstown was the fourth tournament championship for the Renegades this season, as the team also won the Mickie Gordon Memorial Day Tournament in Purcellville, the Northern Virginia Travel Baseball League (NVTBL) JV Championship, and the Morgantown, W.Va. Marathon. The Renegades are comprises players from various local high schools, including South Lakes (Nick Beaulac, Ryan Forrest, Billy McLaughlin, Austin Schweppe); Oakton (Austin Lamon, RJ Garcia); Marshall (Kent Blackstone); Madison (Tommy Mulroney); Potomac Falls (Tyler Rice); Heritage (Mitchell Bowers); Park View (Bobby Mason); Bishop O’Connell (Greg Krug); and Loudon County (Devin Guthrie). The Renegades are coached by Joe Beaulac and Bob Lamon.

Renegades Reach State Baseball Finals

RESTON CONNECTION

The Reston Renegades 14-under travel baseball team recently competed in the Virginia State baseball championship tournament. The locals reached the finals before losing, 3-1, to the Virginia Gators of Roanoke. The field of 17 teams competed in pool play with the top four teams advancing to the championship round. The Renegades won their pool to advance to the playoff round against the Blue Ridge Bombers, who they defeated 12-4.

The Renegades currently have an overall record of 31-9 and hold the No. 1 ranking in the 14U Division of the Northern Virginia Travel Baseball League (NVTBL) with a record of 17-4.

The Renegades are the franchise team of South Lakes High School and are coached by Joe Beaulac, former Eckerd College and minor league player, and Bob Lamon, former James Madison University player.
