2004 AYBT Schedule Posted

OK....I have the first rev of the AYBT National schedule....it is subject to change....but I think it is pretty solid. You will find it in the handouts area. I need to know who needs hotel rooms. Also....we will play a single elimination tourney on July 21st for the national title.

Tuesday, June 15
Rage go 2-1 in Rockford and take 3rd..UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!

Rockford, IL - The Rage showed up with 6 players and no true post players in the bunch. Ronnie, Trent, Tris, Kyle, Alex and Bus all stepped up to play some tough competition. Bus and Alex both got hurt but the Rage still kept 5 players on the floor for every minute of every HOT game....somehow. Although the Rage lost their first game to a tough Yong Gunz team by 7 (81-74)(some members of the Young Gunz DROVE to the game)they bounced back to beat a tough Rockford Ambassadors team by 1 point in a great win. Trent and Ronnie stepped up inside all day and they proved to themselves that they can play in the middle with the big boys. The Rage went 2-1 and because of the point system.....some how took 3rd place.....UNBELIEVABLE!!!! The guys that were there played VERY hard through a lot of heat and were exhausted by the end of game three. In that game, Kyle scored a career high 30 points with the Rage. He connected on 6 threes and built up a nice little fan club. Bus made a friend for life on the Rockford team....they liked each other so much that they exchanged punches. Great tourney guys...I am proud of all of you!!!

Practice tonight (Thursday May 13th) from 6:00 - 8:00PM @ Wheeler. I hope to have game times by then.

Rage win Aim High Tourney

Lansing, MI - The Rage easily won a tourney at Aim High today. There were 9 8th grade boys teams in our bracket in the single elimination tourney. The Rage crushed The Blue Devils 61-24 in the first game. There second game was the toughest against Team Jordan out of Ft Wayne. The team was made up of some PAL players, some Ft Wayne Fire players and other Ft Wayne area players. The Rage beat them by 20 points and were powered by 30 points from Zack Novak in his first tourney playing with the Rage. The championship game was anticlimatic with the Rage rushing out to a 20-1 lead over the hapless Brighton All Stars. Everyone played very well and we took GREAT care of the ball this weekend. Good Job Guys!!

NAYS Tourney at Byron High School

OK....I just got the game times for this weekend and it isn't pretty.  Our first game is at 8:00AM on Saturday morning.  If we win that game, we play at 7:00PM on Saturday night.  If we continue to win, we play at 1:00PM Sunday and then the Championship is at 4:00PM.  If we lose...and we won't, we will figure it out at that point.  Also....YOU MUST BRING EITHER A CURRENT REPORT CARD OR A STUDENT ID WITH A PICTURE ON IT.  IF YOU DON'T HAVE ONE OR THE OTHER....YOU CAN'T PLAY!!!!!!!!!  See you on Thursday at the Hobart YMCA.

IMPORTANT - Change of Plans this Weekend!

OK.....I found out late yesterday that the Madison County Shootout has been cancelled!!  Arrrggghhhh!!!  I have placed us in a different tourney that will be better for us anyway.....we are playing in the first annual Chicago Heights Hawks tourney this weekend.  I will post the schedule as soon as I have it.....our first game will be sometime around noon on Saturday.  We will not need to stay overnight either.  I am putting together our schedule for the next couple of months in the next two days here.  The weekend of April 16th-18th we will be in Byron. IL at a NAYS event.  See you on Thursday!!!

Thursday, March 4
Rage beat Griffith 61-27

Hobart, IN - Nuff said....scoring leaders....Bus 13, Birdman 11, Horse and Shrummie both had 8. Off to Spiece for the weekend!!

Wednesday, March 3
Rage go Undefeated to Win Tar Heel Classic

Rockford, IL - The Rage went 4-0 this weekend and won the 3rd Annual Ken Rock Tar Heel Classic. The Rage beat three pool teams...the Ken Rock Tar Heels, Park Ridge and Arlington. They beat Naperville in overtime in a very exciting win in the championship. The Rage led most of the game but had some problems taking care of the ball in the second half. The Rage found themselves down by 10 with 2 minutes to play. Vance hit a trey and Kyle hit two in a 13 second span to get them back in it. The Rage found themselves down by 3 with 4.1 seconds to play. On the inbounds play...Kyle got a good look but just missed...Tyler snagged the rebound and hit Trent just outside the arc. Trent released his attempt as the buzzer sounded and his shot was pure...nothing but the bottom of the net. That sent the game into overtime. In OT....Tyler drained two free throws and Kyle nailed another trey. It was just enough as the Rage hung on to win by one. Great job guys....!!!

Rage goes 2-1 @ Rich Central

Olympia Fields, IL - The Rage went 2-1 over the weekend and just missed getting into the single elimination portion of the tourney. On Saturday....the Rage beat St Margarets and the Lake County NorthStars. Everybody contributed and played well. Peter and Vance stepped up against the NorthStars with Peter being a huge force in the middle and Bus shouldering the bulk of the scoring in the second half. On Sunday....the Rage ran into a Westside Warriors team that was 57-1 before we played them. Well.....the were 58-1 after the game although the Rage put forth an excellent effort. We needed to hit our bunnies and free throws in the first half to stay with them. If we do that.....we would have had the lead at the half and it would have been a different game. It is off to Rockford next weekend.

Rage beat Hammond for 2nd League Win

Hobart, IN - The Rage beat Hammond last night by a final of 58-22. After a slow start....the Rage got thinks cranked up with their defense and fast break capabilities. It didn't hurt that Kyle (Shoota) Hanaway was on fire from behind the arc....dropping 4 treys over the course of the game and finished with 17 points. Vance (Bus) Johnston and Trent (T-Red) Redington both finished with 10. To finish the scoring...Tristan and Peter both added 6, Birdman 5 and Alex dropped in 4. I saw a few signs that we are starting to come together a little bit. We still need to kick up our rebounding and defensive effort A GREAT DEAL!!! Tyler Koss was sorely missed and Shrummie and Havy both played great defense and brought a ton of energy to the floor.

I have uploaded the schedule for the Rockford Tourney to the handouts area of this site. I need to know what parents need hotel rooms for the night of February 28th. Thanks!

Friday, February 13
Rage beat KV to Open YMCA League

Hobart, IN - Well...it was ugly....but it was a W. The Rage prevailed in a game that was marred by poor officiating. The final was 53-40 and the score sheets were gone before I got any stats. I would guess that Shrummie was the leading scorer and he played an excellent game even though he was in foul trouble early. Everyone on the team did a good job of keeping their composure through adversity.....except for the coach.....again. Good job GUYS!! We have got to play with more intensity though!!!!!!! Overall it wasn't a bad game for the first time out with everyone and we weren't even close to clicking....but we will. Get your rear-ends to practice guys!!! Tyler did a good job and Kyle hit a couple of treys. Trent and Alex did an excellent job of holding KV's top scorer to 5 points in the second half after we went to a box and one. Peter dominated on the glass even though he got punched in the mouth...they actually called the foul on that one.

Pick Artwork for Jerseys

February 5th - I uploaded some artwork to an Album. Look on the left side. Go there and click on the link. There are two versions.....go to the message board and vote on which one you like. Also vote for names on the back of your jersey or not. Thanks!!!

YMCA GAME CANCELLED for TONIGHT

February 5th - Our first league game is cancelled tonight due to an official cancelling... (SANTA CLAUS!!!)...you know...my buddy. The game will be rescheduled.....SORRY OR THE LATE NOTICE but they just called me.

Thursday, January 22
Aim High Round Robin on Saturday, Jan 24th

Lansing, MI - We will play three games on Saturday January 24th at Aim High. Please follow the link for the schedule(click on the header of this article). They are one hour ahead of us so the game times will be 2:00, 4:00 and 6:00PM our time. It should be a good warm up for us and we will play some teams we have never seen before. They had better be ready for a butt-whooping in Michigan!!! Parents...please let me know who is going so we can figure out driving arrangements. The new uniforms will not be ready yet so dig out your jerseys from this summer.
