Midget Tier I Kings
Regina, Canada

Welcome to the Midget Tier I Kings

The team photo will be taken at our Sunday practice on March 4th (note this is a 7:30am practice starting time). Please ensure all players bring their black jerseys (with black hockey socks) and wear them at this practice. I hope everyone will make every effort to attend this day as it would be nice to have a full team picture.

*** TEAM NEWS ***
On behalf of the coaching and Management staff, we wish Michael Rosloot the best with the Pat Canadians. They have called upon Michael’s services full time as they too now see how Michael can benefit any team. Congratulations Mr. Michael Rosloot!! On a side note Michael was runner up for this year’s MVP voting missing out by one vote to the Flyers #9 Shawn Wilyman.

The coaching staff would also like to congratulate this year’s King’s all –star representatives. The following players will participate in this year’s all-star skills competition and game in Lumsden Sunday the 25th. The league made their selections based on statistics, skills displayed, penalty minutes, and on ice behavior. Our representatives are:

LW: Jason Theaker
C: Michael Rosloot – replaced by Connor Haas
RW: Jake Murray
LD: Kevin Jones
RD: Tanner McCall (injured) replaced by Blake Johnson
GT: Logan Gartner
Congratulations to everyone and best of luck this Sunday.

ALL STAR RESULTS: Congratulations to all the Kings who played on the Blue team in the All-Star game, who beat the White team by 6-4. The skills competitions was great to watch & congratulations to Logan Gartner who won the Goaltenders skills competition.

*** Hockey Draft ***
Just a reminder that the hockey draft is due this coming Friday. Each player is to sell a minimum of 10 drafts and return the draft sheet and the money on Fridays game. Also a reminder that Fridays game will be pictures prior to the game, so be there 10 min early.

*** Trip to Colorado Info *** discussed at the parent meeting, here is the information requested:

The tournament date is Feb 15th to 19th in order to arrive ontime (opening ceremonies are mandatory) we would leave on Feb 13th and depending on success, return Feb 19th or Feb 20th from the information we have, most high schools are closed Feb 15 and 16th (meaning most kids will miss 3-4 days of school). SaskFirst Camp is early March (so no conflict). Most of the costs for this tournament have not been included in our team budget (we anticipate the cost to be approx $9,000). Aside from fundraising to offset some of the cost, it represents an additional $500 per family (for the boys only as this does not include whatever expenses you will incur for yourself and/or for any additional family members).

We need to decide fairly soon if we are going to go or not. If you need additional info please advise, otherwise I would appreciate it if you would inform me if of your vote on going or not going (the info will be kept confidential other than team treasurer and coach who will need to know).

Thanks and look forward to your earliest response...Paul

*** Hockey Draft ***
Please note the cheques for the Hockey Draft should be made payable to Tier I Kings (not Hawks as the form indicates).

*** P.A. Tournament ***

*** October 15, 2006 ***
Welcome to another season of HOCKEY! We've barely had 2 practices under our belt and we're scheduled for our first 2 games on Mon & Tue, October 16th & 17th. Hope everyone's pumped & ready for another season of hockey! GO KINGS GO!!

The Rolling Stones, "A Bigger Bang World Tour" touched down in Regina for 2 concerts on Oct 6th & 8th! Leader Post - Sat Oct 7th: "Maybe it's only rock and roll...but they loved it! Nearly 4 months of fevered anticipation became fulfilled ten-fold when the "World's Greatest Rock And Roll Band" invaded Mosaic Stadium for the first of 2 Thanksgiving weekend shows on Friday night in Regina. On a perfect evening that you hoped would never end, it felt apropos that the Rolling Stones honest to goodness rock and roll royalty, would finally give the Queen City the concert experience of a lifetime!" FACT - 90,000 tickets were sold in 1hr 17 min!    Check out the reviews for Regina and other cities on the tour! You thought the Sunday show was cold... check out the pictures from the review for Chicago (right after Regina).

Last year some of the guys were on the Midget Tier II Hawks team and their website was selected as one of eTeamz Spotlight sites for October 2006. According to Gregg Vincent, vice president of eteamz and Active Team Sports, “Every month we have a hard time choosing which sites to display through the Spotlight Site program. The Hawks webmaster has done an outstanding job of maintaining a beautiful site that’s a great resource for players, parents and everyone involved. Their hard work and dedication to keeping their players informed of all the latest news, schedules and updates should be recognized. The Spotlight Site program allows us to do just that.” Check it out.
