Happy surfing, and to quote the great Bill Shankly (yes I am a lifelong Liverpool supporter!!): "Some people believe football is a matter of life and death.
I'm very disappointed with that attitude.
I can assure you it is much, much more important than that."

Friday, May 9 First Team vs Reserve Team.................................
Redruth Utd 0
Redruth Utd Res 3
Shock, horror. The first team hang their heads in shame as they were taught a lesson in desire and commitment from the Reserves in an end of season friendly played at Clijah Croft.
Both teams played at pretty much full strength, and in their right positions, so there can be no excuses. All credit to the Reserves who enjoyed biting into their tackles, and troubling the 1st team with their lively breaks.
The first goal of the game went to Aaron Brokenshire for the Reserves as he chipped the ball over keeper Nathan Taylor after 25 minutes.
The Reserves scored a 2nd goal when Simon Barrand inadvertently put the ball in his own net, following a late call from the keeper.
The game was wrapped up when Greg Stephens outjumped Darren Lewarne to head in a powerful 3rd goal.
Saturday, May 3 Reserves finish off their first season with a win!
Portreath Reserves 1
REDRUTH UNITED RESERVES 2
Redruth’s Reserves wrapped up their inaugural season with a good victory over local rivals Portreath Reserves.Despite having the wind behind them, Redruth had a poor first half, failing to keep the ball for long periods, and allowing Portreath to win the ball and then counter-attack.
The home side took the lead after 20 minutes through ex-Redruth hotshot Kevin Endean, and looked like they were on their way to an easy victory. However, Redruth’s man of the match, Moha Imchichi, levelled the scores with 5 minutes of the half remaining as he sprung the offside trap, and coolly stroked the ball past the keeper.
In the second half, with Portreath starting to tire, Redruth took control. Both Jake Williams and Moha Imchichi were starting to tease the opposition with their trickery, and whilst Portreath had an occasional long shot at goal, they rarely troubled the Redruth defence. The best goal of the game was scored by Imchichi as he picked up the ball wide on the right hand side of the Portreath half, and danced through 4 challenges as he raced into the box and guided the ball past the keeper.
Despite a couple of late scares, Redruth held on. Reserve team manager Darin Thomas commented “ Our aim this season was to ensure we didn’t become subject to re-election, and we’ve achieved that despite a difficult first 3 months to the season. With a good squad of talented players now assembled, and the team having settled down in the second half of the seasons, I’ve been pleased overall with our performance. We are now looking to build for next season.”

Tuesday, April 29 Reds finish off home fixtures with a good win
REDRUTH UNITED 5
Gulval 1
Redruth rounded off their home fixtures with a convincing win over a struggling Gulval side who themselves needed to win the game to give themselves a lifeline in Division 1.
Redruth started off the brighter team and got an early reward as Richie Ward slotted the ball past the keeper within 10 minutes. Some good interplay between Nathan Taylor & Guy Johnson led to Ward fashioning an opening to score his second goal midway through the half and Redruth appeared to be cruising going into the break.
However, Gulval forced some pressure on the Redruth defence for the first 10 minutes of the 2nd half with a succession of corners. It was with a sigh of relief though that Guy Johnson smashed in a shot to give the Reds the extra cushion needed with 30 minutes remaining.
Despite a brief flurry from the away side that led to Chris Parkinson scoring a consolation goal, Redruth wrapped up the points with a goal from man of the match Nathan Taylor, and a late 5th goal from substitute Rob Bevington.
Friday, April 25 Holmans earn valuable 3 points
Redruth Utd 1
Holmans 2
Holmans gained a vital 3 points in their quest to remain in Mining League 1 with a tightly-contested win over Redruth Utd.
In fairness, the away side had a strong first half, and perhaps were unlucky only to have gone in 2-0 up at the break.
However, Redruth had a superior second half as they battled to stay in the game, epitomised by a rare headed goal from Simon Barrand as he dived to power the ball over the line with 30 mins remaining.
To their credit though, Holmans stood firm to claim victory.
Redruth's man of the match was James Petty.
Monday, April 14 Reserves lose by single goal at Crown Inn Glory
Crown Inn Glory 1
REDRUTH UNITED RESERVES 0
Despite a determined performance from Redruth against their higher-placed opponents, the home side ran out winners with a goal midway through the second half.
Redruth matched Crown throughout much of the pitch, although failed to make the most of their limited chances in front of goal. Some strong defending was needed against a lively strike force, encapsulated by a man of the match performance from Justin Pascoe.

Sunday, March 30 Reds win titanic battle
Titans 1
REDRUTH UTD RES 5
Redruth recorded a comprehensive victory over their Camborne-based rivals to earn a vital 3 points.
Despite the Reds 1st team having no game, they started with just keeper Danny Kaczmarek as their regular 1st team player, although Darren Lewarne also started.
Playing down the slope, and with the wind at their backs, Redruth gained the upper hand as Steve Hick’s long punt into the opposition half was latched onto by Aaron Brokenshire, and his run was no match for ex-Red Daniel Perkins as he sprinted on and looped the ball over the Titans’ keeper.Redruth got a vital second goal with 15 minutes of the first half remaining as Jake Williams fired in a freekick which the keeper failed to handle, only for Redruth’s man of the match Michael Poultney to latch onto the keeper’s parry to slot home from 6 yards.
Despite defending against the slope in the second half, Redruth had a dream early start to the second half, as another ex-Red Dylan Burrows – so often a tower of strength for Redruth last season – unfortunately headed into his own net within 5 minutes of the restart. However, within 10 minutes, keeper Kaczmarek twice had to be on his toes with a couple of good saves, but Titans were unable to force the ball into the net.
Whilst Titans got a goal back from Pete Barnes with 20 minutes remaining, the home side endured a frustrating afternoon with some dogged defending from Redruth’s back line of Martin Moon, Justin Pascoe, Darren Lewarne and Steve Hick, and as Redruth stepped up the pace in the last 15 minutes, they proved themselves too hot to handle for their higher-placed opponents, with goals from Shane Hutchens and Nathan Taylor giving Redruth the spoils.
