I'm very disappointed with that attitude.
I can assure you it is much, much more important than that."

Illogan 12
Will keep this brief. Illogan - class. Probably the best I've ever seen them against us. Redruth - poor. I'll hold my hands up as manager, but I'd expect the majority of the squad to do exactly the same. An embarrassment . Enough said. Over and out........

Redruth Utd Res 1
Apart from the fact that we lost this game, I have a stinking cold, so I will keep this one brief.
The visitors deserved more than just an hour and a half of exercise and felt hard done by not to take home a point from this game. Praze took the lead towards the end of the first half, but Redruth equalised in the second, only to lose out to a cross which was not dealt with early enough.
Specialthanks should go to Ben Beesley for his well taken goal, Matt Leach as MOTM and the ‘WAGS’ and Moey for turning up to watch in a monsoon.

1st team bow out of cup & Reserves win against Perranporth. Glen Graham's match report:-
Redruth Utd 1
Mawnan 2
Redruth bowed out of the 2nd round of the Junior Cup but will kick themselves for allowing a first half lead slip when Tom Byrne closed in on the keeper's spill from Barry McCabe's freekick.
The Reds held the lead until the last 8 minutes only to see Mawnan score two late goals - the winner in the last minute.
John Salmon was man of the match.
Perranporth 1
Redruth Reserves 3
Both teams have been used to winning recently and have managed to work their way to the third and fourth spots in the table. However, it was the Reserves that managed to steal all three points, in a game full of contrasts from start to finish.
Perranporth sported a neat looking tracksuit for their warm up, whilst the Reserves found themselves fighting over socks again. The home side managed to pull off a warm up drill that the ‘Red Arrows’ would have been proud of, whilst the Reds belted long range balls at Brian in goal, before having to go and retrieve it from the hedge. It must have been manager Darin Thomas’ pre- match speech that spurred the players on to victory, with phrases like, “the season starts here….we gotta’ fight for the right to party”.
Against the run of play, in- form striker Ben Beesley managed to score two first half goals, following a succession of route 1 balls over the top of Perranporth’s defence. The home side managed to get a goal back before half time from a corner.
It was obvious from the beginning of the second half that Perranporth intended to get straight back into the game, but spells of persistent pressure down both wings failed to break the Reds defence. With twenty minutes left to play, substitutions were made, if not just to bring on ‘fresh legs.’ Kevin Endean marked his return to the Reserves by spending ten minutes on the pitch and ten minutes in the dressing room, following a straight red card.Personally I didn’t see it, but I have it on good authority that he was fighting a man twice his size.
Jake Williams eased the pressure off the Reserves ten team, by calmly scoring the fourth goal of the game.Credit goes to all players, who gave 100% throughout the whole game.Beamer will be delighted not only to have received the ‘man of the match’ award, but because I finally gave him a mention.Happy now?

New FA website with up to date links to tables, results, fixtures...
Redruth’s Reserves maintained their position towards the top of the table, after beating a side struggling to get off the bottom. However, a three goal lead flattered the home side somewhat and to echo the words of that great Nottingham Forest manager; Billy Davies, “we are getting the results, but it ain’t pretty.”
A strong wind blowing diagonally across the pitch made controlling the ball difficult.Advice from team managers to keep the ball ‘on the deck’ and play to feet was ignored by both sides and players spent the majority of the first half chasing run-away long passes and bouncing headers. The deadlock was eventually broken as midfielder Chris Fable scored the home sides' first goal with a back post ‘tap in.’A second goal soon followed as James Chilman was rewarded for his efforts with a carefully slotted ball past the outstretched keeper. The half finished with the home side leading 2-0.
The beginning of the second half saw the visitors battle hard into the wind to try and get back into the game. However, it was the Reserves that scored the third goal, as Chris Fable claimed his second of the day.The visitors were later rewarded, as a long range midfield shot split the Reds back line. The Reserves then showed some determination and purpose, scoring two more goals to put the game beyond the reach of Wendron. The fifth and sixth goals of the game came from the cultured boot of Jake Williams. His first was a long range effort which he had been threatening the visitors' goalkeeper with for the whole game and his second came via a tight angled shot.
Madron scored a cancellation free kick one minute before time to end the game 5-2. Man of the Match award was closely contested by Roger Keast and Matt Leach, but saw Chris Fable take it for the first time this season.

Sennen 2
REDRUTH UTD 0
The home side grabbed all the points in a feisty encounter at times between the two sides. Sennen started well and sprayed the ball around with confidence, pinning Redruth back into their half. However, when Redruth broke clear they caused problems of their own, although disappointingly the final shot was always lacking in accuracy.
The home side scored on 15 minutes as Redruth failed to deal with a loose ball in the penalty box. Redruth then had chances to equalise through James Petty and Aaron Brokenshire, but both shot wide.
Sennen notched their second goal ten minutes into the second half which forced Redruth to up the tempo, but the home defence stood firm, even after being reduced to ten men with 25 minutes remaining.

Despite goals from James Chilman, Ben Beesley and Chris Fable, Redruth’s Reserves were unable to retain the upper hand in this encounter with Trevenson.

Junior Cup Round 1
Chacewater 1
Redruth Utd 0
Redruth, who reached last year’s Area Quarter Finals, bowed out at the first attempt, despite a valiant effort against the odds. Taking a bare 11 players to Chacewater, Redruth found themselves down to 10 men after Darren Lewarne uncharacteristically got sent off within the first 10 minutes for a deliberate handball, as he tipped a shot onto the crossbar with a keeper-like instinct. The home side were awarded a penalty, and despite Mark Eccles’s save, the rebound fell back to the Chacewater player who knocked the ball into the net.
This passage of play galvanised the Reds and to the neutral observer, they looked the better team throughout the remainder of the game. Whilst Chacewater had a handful of half-chances, they found Mark Eccles in unstoppable form in the Redruth goal, and with Redruth’s revised central defensive pairing of Dom Nicholls and Barry McCabe swallowing up the pressure.
Redruth created far more than their opponents as they stretched the home team time after time. Tony Barber was Redruth’s creative inspiration in midfield, whilst Adam Townsend, James Petty and Aaron Brokenshire ran their socks off to frustrate the home side, and with Petty having a couple of chances himself to equalise.
However, with a lack of fresh legs on the bench, Redruth found themselves finishing the game with 7 fit players, and yet still causing problems. Man of the match was once again the energetic Barry McCabe.
Redruth Utd Reserves 5
St Buryan Res 4
Matches between the Reserves and St Buryan had been close in the past, but none as close as this.
Both teams started brightly, but it was St Buryan who took the early lead, as the first goal bounced awkwardly over deputising goalkeeper Justin Sowerby. The home team soon levelled and the rest of the game saw St Buryan take the lead again and again, followed by Redruth equalising minutes later.
Goals were scored by Ben Beesley (2), James Chilman, Jake Williams and Rob Bevington. Man of the match went to Nigel Andrew.
The Reserves managed to hold on to their one goal lead for the last 5 minutes of the game and deserved the three points.

Halsetown 3
Redruth Utd 1
Redruth travelled to Halsetown with a bare 11 players as 8 players were missing through work, holiday or injuries. Despite keeping the score to 0-0 at halftime, and having good opportunities through Adam Townsend and Barry McCabe, eventually the strength in depth of the home side paid off as Redruth played most of the second half with only 8 fit players after three injuries. James Petty scored a consolation goal for the Reds. Man of the match was Adam Townsend.
Redruth United Reserves 3 Marazion 1
The match started at a fast tempo with both sides having equal possession, but it was the home side that created the most shots on goal. However, neither Jake Williams, with two of his trade mark free kicks, or James Chilman could find the target and the first half ended goalless.
The Reserves patience eventually paid off. Chilman soon found the back of the net, scoring twice during the first ten minutes of the second half. Ben Beesley scored a few minutes later to make the score 3-0. Marazion made three quick substitutions and worked hard to try and get back into the game. The Reserves defence held strong, with good covering midfield support from Mark Jose and Tom Byrne, making his Redruth debut and also picking up the MOTM vote.
Glen Graham made a late appearance for the Reserves, his first game since a foot injury last season. However, even his tenacious spirit was not enough to stop Marazion picking up a late concessionary goal.

Threemilestone 1
Redruth earnt a valuable point against a hard-working Threemilestone side, with both teams feeling they had chances to win the game. Redruth went 1-0 up after 20 minutes as Aaron Brokenshire raced clear of the away defence and slotted the ball past the keeper. Threemilestone equalised 10 minutes later as they burst clear from midfield and found themselves outnumbering the Redruth defence which they used to good effect. Redruth had a great chance to retake the lead after James Petty was fouled in the box, but Kevin Endean’s penalty was saved.
After the halftime break, Threemilestone had the lions share of possession and forced plenty of pressure on the Redruth defence. However, the home side will themselves feel that, with the benefit of extra composure in front of goal, they could also have made the extra break.
For Redruth Barry McCabe again worked well, and Adam Williams made some good interceptions in the Redruth goal, but the star for the Reds was Dom Nicholls, back with Redruth after a 3 year absence, with a faultless game at centrehalf next to Darren Lewarne.
Redruth Utd Res 3
Rosudgeon 4
Despite two very well-taken goals from James Chilman in the first half, Redruth’s reserves contrived to lose the game as Rosudgeon took the honours. Rob Bevington had the other Redruth goal with Chilman as man of the match.

Halsetown 3
Redruth conceded 3 early goals in the first 20 minutes in their encounter with Halsetown but will wonder why they failed to at least equalise in a game where they had a number of chances to score.
The three poorly-conceded goals set the early tempo but it was only once they were 3-0 down that Redruth started to play. However, a combination of poor final touches, the ball being cleared off the line twice, and a couple of good saves all contrived to ensure that Redruth could not get a foothold in the match. Barry McCabe won man of the match for Redruth.
.....and now for the funnier stuff. Well done Rob for a great match report for the Reserves. Keep it up! :-

Redruth Utd Reserves 4 Gulval2MoM- Chills
A fine Indian summer’s day saw the visit of French team Goule-valle to Clijah. A fine, all round performance saw Redruth come out on top in a ding-dong 6 goal encounter.Redruth took the kick offand were immediately into their stride knocking the ball around nicely and putting real pressure on the Frenchmen who were struggling to live with the pace of Captain Jake Williams and the physical presence of James “The White Adebayor” Chilman. Within 10 minutes it was Chills who put Redruth ahead with a fine low finish across the keeper after some sustained possession.
Soon however Gulval were getting into the game with their skipper ‘Philippe’ (No.7) pulling the strings and this improvement was rewarded with a stone-wall penalty that was blasted past Brian “The Cat” Keitch. The penalty was so blatant that not even stand-in ref Chris “Drugs Mule” Fable could turn it down.So after a scrappy half of two halves the sides went in all-square, with some great saves from Brian keeping the ‘ruth in it.
Half-time saw the introduction of Chris into a holding role in midfield- his task to foul Philippe out of the game. Despite this, and mainly due to some poor communication in midfield the French visitors started the brighter and some great saves from Brian, and defensive covering from player/manager Darin “DT” Thomas and Daniel "Duh?" Perkins were needed to deny them from taking the lead.
Redruth however took the lead with a break-away goal, 10 minutes into the second period.Jake slid the ball throw for midfield man Rob Morton to rifle home at the second attempt for his first competitive goal for Redruth. From the restart the game went from end to end, with Chills hitting the bar, but a slight mistake from Perks when he tried to think and breathe at the same time allowed Gulval to again equalise past the superb Brian.
The Reds showed great mental strength and stamina to again take the lead through the most unlikely of sources. After yet some great centre forward hold up play from Chills a cynical foul resulted in a free kick 25 yards out. Jake’s blasted effort was heading towards the corner flag when somehow Chris found himself in the way and despite desperately trying to avoid the ball it somehow hit him and flew past a static keeper. It was the midfield enforcer’s first goal in 3 years and just reward for his demolition job on Philippe. Word was that both 'Papa' and 'Nicole' were devastated by their brother's lack of attention on the tattoed, pierced art canvas Fable.
Gulval responded gamely to again going behind but they spurned any chances they created, which due to the discipline and work rate of Redruth was not too often. The home team were by now playing on the break and the fourth goal was another fine example of this. Right-back Matt “The Northerner” Leech won the ball in midfield and embarked on a barnstorming run before squaring for Chills who made no mistake with the chance.
With this slight cushion a lovely moment came when club favourite Mark "Joser" (we're so original with our names!) Jose made a brief appearance after months out with a broken leg.Redruth comfortably played out the remaining time to record a great victory against the highly fancied French team. Bonjour, bienvenue and au revoir.
