Happy surfing, and to quote the great Bill Shankly (yes I am a lifelong Liverpool supporter!!): "Some people believe football is a matter of life and death.
I'm very disappointed with that attitude.
I can assure you it is much, much more important than that."

Redruth beat Gulval plus Glen Graham's Reserves match report - Sat 2nd Jan
2nd January 2009
Gulval 2
Redruth Utd 4
Redruth record their first win in the league since September, capped by a man of the match performance from substitute Moha Imchichi.
Goonhavern 0 Redruth Utd Res 3
It is hard to live up to Beamer’s last epic match report, so I won’t even try:
Our first match of the New Year was an icy cold trip to Goonhavern. The cold weather even had ‘The Northerners’ contemplating wearing gloves for the game, but as Matt Leach pointed out, “only girls gloves to play in”.Sorry Jake.
Anyway, football! The game started at a fast tempo and both teams had chances to go ahead.Goonhavern’s opportunities came largely from mistakes within an unfamiliar Reds defence, with Steve Chapman filling in for DT and Phil (Plug) Mitchell in goal for the absent Brian Keitch
.
However, the visitors managed to get organised and by half time were level at 0-0.
The second half saw a spirited performance across all positions.Redruth were eventually rewarded with 20 minutes to go, by a James Chilman goal.He quickly followed up with a second.Goonhavern had plenty of chances to get back into the game, but their finishing was weak and deputising Redruth keeper Phil, put in an heroic man of the match performance to keep a clean sheet. The game was eventually sealed when substitute Ryan (girlie bracelet) Ault scored a far post tap-in.
Shame you missed this one DT, but we hope Dani’s salon opening was a success.Get Jake and Beamer to go over their pre-match team talk with you sometime.Inspirational.

REDRUTH UTD 2
SENNEN 2
Redruth started off the first 25 minutes very well with some slick passing throughout, leading to a Richie Ward goal. A lapse of concentration at the back gifted Senned their equaliser before the break.
From a great James Petty cross, midfield midget with the large mouth Barry McCabe rose like Billy the Fish at the far post to head Redruth back into the lead midway through the second half.
However, Sennen equalised with 10 minutes remaining.
Man of the match was Mark Eccles. A very controlled, confident display and full of courage. Well done big man!
OK...here is Beamer's report:
REDRUTH UNITED FC RESERVES 5
PERRANPORTH 3RDS 3
We were short of players and DT wasn’t keen to play but fair play to the team we got stuck in and pulled off a great result!!!!With Twin Tower Chills back to his best and Jake skinning their defence we had a great 1st half going in at the break 3-1 up .
Second half as usual we go to sleep and let them back in the game ( we need to learn to not panic and hold the ball more and kick the opposition more !!!! ). When it went 3-2 with Brians biggest mistake that I’ve seen, I was thinking we have blown it !!! And then Nigel dives with his arms out and another pen!!! . What a save big Brian and Chills breaks away and its 4-2 ,then Brian makes another clanger in between a couple of fantastic saves 4-3 .
At this stage with 5mins left I was thinking we can’t draw with them. Then Twin Tower Chills scores 5-3 all over, we have won !!!! Still time one of their players to say how great they are passing the ball and all we do is long balls !!! We dont care, we won, bring on Praze in the cup.
Thanks to Roger and Steve for stepping in and both playing great for us.

Reserve Result 12th Dec - Glen Graham's match report
12th December 2009
Marazion Blues 3
Redruth Reserves 3
Redruth went looking for all three points, but were disappointed to come home with only one.
A spell of early pressure from the Reserves was rewarded by a DT headed goal, halfway through the first half.Rob Bevington scored the second and The Reds had plenty of chances to increase their lead. However, the half finished 1-2, as the home side managed to fumble the ball over the line in a goal mouth scramble.
The second half saw a series of squandered chances up front, as Redruth players started to get frustrated at not having ‘killed the game off’.Marazion managed to draw level, but it was Jake Williams who put The Reds back in the lead with a ‘mazey’ run and superb finish.
In the last three minutes of the game, last weeks MOTM Rob went from hero to zero. His call from within the 18 yard box of “my ball”, lead to an indirect free kick, which saw Marazion finish the game with a superb top corner goal and a much needed point to help them climb from bottom of the table.I personally think the ref was being harsh and Rob had played very well in the centre for the whole game.

Sad news to report as Rachel Eccles passes away
I'm sorry to report that Rachel passed away earlier this morning. Whilst Rachel and Mark have only been part of the club for 2 years, they have made good friends in the club and become an important part of it so quickly.
We will mourn her passing. We will, however, celebrate her life in the way she would have wanted.
All our love and thoughts are with Mark, Emily & Amy at this sad time.

Redruth Reserves 2 Praze 5
When every other referee had sensibly decided to call off their games, on this monsoon Saturday afternoon, ours decided it would be nice to have a kick about.Adam and Mark from the first team pointed out that, “Christmas is coming and the ref probably needs the extra dosh.”
Praze arrived with a similar side to the one that narrowly beat us 2-1 three weeks ago.It might have come as a bit of a shock to them to be 2-0 down in the first twenty minutes.Jake Williams scored the first with a trademark free kick and provided a perfectly weighted through-ball for Kevin Endean to slot home the second. The visitors stuck to their game plan and started to pile the pressure on towards the end of the fist half.Their reward was a goal from a long range effort, taking a deflection and looping over the back of outstretched keeper Brian.
As weather conditions deteriorated in the second half, Praze attacked the Reserves goal from all angles. Beamer in particular was ‘run ragged’ down the left flank by a winger at least half his age (and then some). However, on a day that saw the pint sized, jolly left back play his hundredth game for the club; Beamer was well up for the challenge of dealing with the young menacing whippersnapper down his channel. To put it into perspective, it’s like Beamer playing against an 80 year old.Do your own maths.
Anyway, back to the footy. They had a great second half and scored four goals, but we’ll have ‘em in the cup.
Man Of the Match was really hard to decide this week.Largely due to the fact all players were disguised from head to toe in mud. However, it fittingly went to the number two veteran Beamer.

Redruth Utd 0
Illogan 12
Will keep this brief. Illogan - class. Probably the best I've ever seen them against us. Redruth - poor. I'll hold my hands up as manager, but I'd expect the majority of the squad to do exactly the same. An embarrassment . Enough said. Over and out........

Praze 2
Redruth Utd Res 1
Apart from the fact that we lost this game, I have a stinking cold, so I will keep this one brief.
The visitors deserved more than just an hour and a half of exercise and felt hard done by not to take home a point from this game. Praze took the lead towards the end of the first half, but Redruth equalised in the second, only to lose out to a cross which was not dealt with early enough.
Specialthanks should go to Ben Beesley for his well taken goal, Matt Leach as MOTM and the ‘WAGS’ and Moey for turning up to watch in a monsoon.

1st team bow out of cup & Reserves win against Perranporth. Glen Graham's match report:-
Redruth Utd 1
Mawnan 2
Redruth bowed out of the 2nd round of the Junior Cup but will kick themselves for allowing a first half lead slip when Tom Byrne closed in on the keeper's spill from Barry McCabe's freekick.
The Reds held the lead until the last 8 minutes only to see Mawnan score two late goals - the winner in the last minute.
John Salmon was man of the match.
Perranporth 1
Redruth Reserves 3
Both teams have been used to winning recently and have managed to work their way to the third and fourth spots in the table. However, it was the Reserves that managed to steal all three points, in a game full of contrasts from start to finish.
Perranporth sported a neat looking tracksuit for their warm up, whilst the Reserves found themselves fighting over socks again. The home side managed to pull off a warm up drill that the ‘Red Arrows’ would have been proud of, whilst the Reds belted long range balls at Brian in goal, before having to go and retrieve it from the hedge. It must have been manager Darin Thomas’ pre- match speech that spurred the players on to victory, with phrases like, “the season starts here….we gotta’ fight for the right to party”.
Against the run of play, in- form striker Ben Beesley managed to score two first half goals, following a succession of route 1 balls over the top of Perranporth’s defence. The home side managed to get a goal back before half time from a corner.
It was obvious from the beginning of the second half that Perranporth intended to get straight back into the game, but spells of persistent pressure down both wings failed to break the Reds defence. With twenty minutes left to play, substitutions were made, if not just to bring on ‘fresh legs.’ Kevin Endean marked his return to the Reserves by spending ten minutes on the pitch and ten minutes in the dressing room, following a straight red card.Personally I didn’t see it, but I have it on good authority that he was fighting a man twice his size.
Jake Williams eased the pressure off the Reserves ten team, by calmly scoring the fourth goal of the game.Credit goes to all players, who gave 100% throughout the whole game.Beamer will be delighted not only to have received the ‘man of the match’ award, but because I finally gave him a mention.Happy now?

Darren's Parachute Jump to raise funds for The Sunrise Appeal & Redruth United.
Darren Lewarne has jumped out of a plane...
Thank you for all my support from friends and family on a long day at Perranporth.
All sponsorship money, once collected ('cos I didn't chicken out, or die!), will be used to help to support fundraising activities for two causes: Redruth United FC, and a very important cause in “The Sunrise Appeal”.Funds raised will be split 50/50 between the two.The Sunrise Appeal was set up to raise money for a new clinical oncology department at the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro to care for patients with cancer. One of our players - Steve Hick - was diagnosed in October last year with cancer, and has been well-supported by the good work undertaken at Treliske.
